January 31, 1985
Those attending the Board of Health meeting on January 31, 1985, at the
Plainview Country Club were: Dr. Gary Abercrombie, Dr. Anthony Lyons, Dr. Hugh
Wilson, Jr., Mrs. Wilson, James Belk, Lewellen Hooper, and Mrs. Hooper, Weaver
McClure, and Mrs. McClure, Donna Womble, Lanny Voss, Tom Aday, Mary Lou Truesdale,
and secretary Elvia Montez.
The meeting was called to order by Dr. Wilson in Dr. Abercrombie`s absence.
The minutes were accepted as written.
Dr. Abercrombie assumed the chair on his arrival.
Dr. Lyons reported the influenza or flu-like illness was in the rise along
with strep throat and gastro enteritis.
Mrs. Truesdale stated since the retirement of our Sanitarian the Region 11
office has assigned sanitarians to our area to help with the inspections of the
food establishment in Hale County. All sanitarian responsiblities are being
conducted daily, either by Mrs. Truesdale, Region 11 Sanitarians, and water
sampling by Mrs. R.L. McMurtry, R.N., Public Health Nurse from the health depart-
ment. The decision has not been made in hiring a new Sanitarian. The Food Man-
agers Course held at Wayland Baptist University in January of 1985•has 22
enrollments.. The course was instructed by Mr. Danny Harrell, Chief Medical
Technologist at Central Plains Regional Hospital and Mr. Ray Ashley, Region "2
Food and Drug inspector of the Texas Department of Health assisted as a
consultant.
Mrs. Truesdale reported on the revenues received by
Health District. She also discussed the Case Load Count
for the district.
Dr. Abercrombie asked for a motion to pay bills, Mr.
Mr. Hooper seconded the motion. (Motion carried
the Plainview -Hale County
as of January 1, 1985
McClure moved the motion,
Excused absences were requested for Mrs. Tilson who was ill, and Dr. Busby
who had conflict at the hospital. Dr. Wilson moved that they be excused and Mr.
Hooper seconded.
The cooperative agreement between City and County has not been completed.
Dr. Wilson moved to adjourn. Nt. Belk second the motion. Motion carried.
