HomeMy WebLinkAbout01-30-1986 Board of Health MinutesBOARD OF HEALTH January 30, 1986 Those attending Board of Health on January 30, 1986 at the Plainview Country Club were: Dr. Gary Abercrombie, Dorothy Tilson, Donna Womble, Lewellen Hooper, Mayor Gene Ridlehuber, Jim Jeffers, City Manager, Tom Aday, Dr. K. Kveton, Dr. C.L. Busby, Dr. A. Lyons, Mary Lou Truesdale, and Jo Ann Baker, Secretary. Dr. Abercrombie, Chairman, called the meeting to order. Mrs. Truesdale informed the Board of several ommissions from the bills as received from the City. She stated that all corrections would be made in the January Bills. Mrs. Tilson moved to pay the bills for the month of November and December. Mrs. Hooper seconded. Motion carried. Dr. Lyons reported the department is running very smoothly. The new phone system has been installed by NTS, at considerably less cost than AT & T's bid. Dr. Lyons reported an increase in viral diseases, considerable increase in influenza, gastro enteritis, and strep throats, which is not unusual for this time of year. There has been several cases of chicken pox. Food establishments are in pretty good shape. Ms. Truesdale reported that we did enter into a lease purchase plan which will allow us to pay out the cost of the phones over the next three year period. Ms. Truesdale reported that in November, we collected $2293.56 and in December $923.52, to date $1705.61. December is usually a relatively slow month. The staff reviewed records for the upcomming year. She advised the Board that included in this month's report is the Case Load count as of December 31, 1985. We are serving about the same number of families that we have been serving in the past, which is about 650 families that are receiving on going services. There has been a drop in the amount of individual services, and an increase in the number requesting services in the area of Family Planning. Mrs. Truesdale also stated that she and Dr. Lyons has been working with the Planning Committee which will be applying for MIHIA, which is Maternal Infant Health Improvement Act fund for this 15 county area. It has been decided that Texas Tech School of Medicine needs to be the primary contractor. Hale County have been targeted for improvement in Maternal and Child Health Care. We should be receiving through the Health Provider of other local participants. The part-time Nursing position has not been filled as of yet. Mrs. Womble moved to have excused absences for Lanny Voss, Dr. Bublis, and Weaver McClure. Mrs. Tilson seconded. Motion carried. Mrs. Womble moved to adjourn. Mrs. Tilson seconded.
