HomeMy WebLinkAbout03-27-1986 Board of Health MinutesBOARD OF, HEALTH March 27, 1986 Those attending Board of Health on March 27, 1986 at the Plainview Country Club were: Dr. Gary Abercrombie, Dorothy Tilson, Donna Womble, Lewellen Hooper, Dr. C.L. Busby, Mayor Ridlehuber, Jim Jeffers, City Manager, Dr. Anthony Lyons, and Jo Ann Baker, secretary. Dr. Abercrombie, Chairman, called the meeting to order. The minutes were approved as presented. Mrs. Tilson moved to pay bills. Mrs. Womble seconded. Motion carried. Dr. Lyons reported on Communicable Diseases. We had one suspected case of measles, several cases of chicken pox, some strep infections, vomiting and diarrhea, gastro enteritis, but numbers seem to be declining some. Dr. Lyons reminded the Board of our new Clerk, Lupe Castillo and part-time Nurse, Anne Blackburn. Dr. Lyons reported that for this fiscal year to date, we have deposited $9,240.66 for fees collected. Dr. Abercrombie appointed for the Budget Committee for 1986-87, Chairman, Lewellen Hooper, Dorothy Tilson and Donna Womble. Dr. Lyons also informed the Board that the New Rules and Regulations, from the Texas Department of Health, pertaining to retail food establishments were being distributed as distinguished from restaurants and food preparation establishments. In order for us to act legally under the rules and regulations, the Board needs to adopt these rules. They will be reviewed and action to be taken at the April 24th meeting. Each board member was requested to study the proposal. Donna Womble moved to have excused absences for Lanny Voss, Dr. Bublis, Dr. Kveton and Weaver McClure. Dorothy Tilson seconded. Motion carried. Dorothy Tilson shared with the Board that she had visited with the Plainview Club and El Jardin's as prospects for new meeting places. Their fee would be 15% for set up. It was decided to continue to meet at Plainview Country Club for now. We will meet upstairs 12:30pm as usual unless otherwised informed. There was some discussion regarding the extensive use of tanning salans and their effect on the general population. Dr. Lyons stated he would ask Mrs. Truesdale to investigate the Board's Action regarding this problem when it was first brought to light several years ago. Mr. Jeffers brought the problem of vendors selling single serving items (pre - packed) verses permitting the food establishments. He requested that this problem also be addressed at the same time the Retail Food Establishment Rules and Regula- tions are discussed. Mrs. Tilson moved to adjourn.
