HomeMy WebLinkAbout08-27-1987 Board of Health MinutesBOARD OF HEALTH AUGUST 27, 1987 Those attending the Board of Health meeting on August 27, 1987 at the Plainview Country Club were: Lanny Voss, Dr. Kit Kveton, Dr. Mary Bublis, Dr. Anthony Lyons, Dorothy Tilson, Nina Morris, Donna. Womble, Mayor Ridlehuber, Jim Jeffers, Tom Aday, Mary Lou Truesdale, Victor Rodriguez and Dr. Garcia from SPHPO, and secretary, Elvia Montez. Mr. Voss called the meeting to order and presided in the absences of Dr. Abercrombie. The minutes for June were accepted as circulated. There was no meeting in July due to lack of urgent business. Payment of June bills: was approved by a telephonevote, that included Dr. Busby, Mrs, Tilson, Dr. Abercrombie, Mrs: Womble, Lanny Voss, Weaver McClure. Mrs. Womble moved to pay the bilis for July and to ratify payment for June bills. Mrs. Tilson seconded. Motion carried. Ratification of Contract amendment regarding TDH regulations in the Sanitarian position was discussed. The state will pay the salary and city and county will be responsible for fringe benefits. This change is mandatory by state TDH.policy. Mrs. Tilson made a motion to ratify this contract amendment and Dr. M. Bublis seconded. Motion carried. Mr. Voss appointed a nominating committee consisting of Mrs. Tilson, Dr, Kveton, arid Weaver McClure. Mrs. Tilson will act as chairperson. They will report at the next meeting of the board. Mrs. Tilson presented a report from the dinner committee that they had three locations avaliable but no selection had been made. The board agreed to let the personnel at the health department select the place of the Banquet. Dr. Lyons reported City and County health conditions were stable with nothing unusal or out of the ordinary having been reported. In the month of July a large number of 5th disease was reported. The department is full staffed and running smoothly. Dr. Lyons shared with the board that he would like to have some kind of media awareness. of the food establishment inspections done in Hale County. This would encourage the food establishments to maintain good scores and would also increase the public awareness of conditions of in the food establishments. Mrs. Truesdale reported that revenues have been increasing in June and July. The patients that do not have fundsare coming back to pay for their services when funds are available. There has been no new develop- ment in our plans implementing maternity clinics. A11:other clinics at the department have been well utilized.
