BOARD OF HEATLH
The monthly meeting of the Plainview -Hale County Health District Board of
Directors was called to order at approximately 12:30 P.M., January 25, 1990,
at the Golden Corral Steakhouse, with Chairman:LannyVoss presiding.
Those attending were: Chairman Lanny Voss, Vice Chairman Dorothy Tilson,
Dr. Kit Linton, and Ben Linton with guest, Dr. Kirk Pinto from Texas Tech
University Health Science Center, Dr. Mary Bublis,Lewellen Hooper, Donna
Womble, Dr. Anthony A. Lyons, Mary Lou Truesdale, R.N.,'Mayor Gene Ridlehuber,
Jim Jeffers, Don Dickson, and secretary, Elvia Montez.
Chairman Voss.ca.11ed for review and comments on the minutes of the last meeting.
With no comments forthcoming, he declared the minutes approved as presented.
The Expenditure -report was -reviewed. Mrs. Truesdale mentioned that the Department
had received the computer and that the December bills reflected the cost of the new
system—Motion was made by Dorothy Tilson and seconded by Lewellen Hooper to pay
the monthly bills for November and December. Motion Carried.
Mrs. Truesdale discussed changing Food Establishment permitting dates to an
anniversary date of when the permit is issued. This change would also be a
great asset to the sanitarian when permitting time come. Mrs. Tilson moved a
motion that the Board present this change to the City Council, Motion was
seconded by Dr. Linton. Motion carried.
Dr. Lyons reported that the Health District had about 2000 or more cases of
flu reported, along with increases in strep and: upper respitory infections.
Dr. Lyons mentioned that the department had not hired a Sanitrian yet and that
was effecting the issuing of food service permits.
Mrs. Truesdale requested board members take notice of the meeting date list
enclosed in this months packet. Mrs. Truesdale mentioned that she had
interviewed several applicants for the Sanitarian position. But had not
made a final selection.
Mrs. Truesdale discussed the patient case load count for 1990, mentioning
that services for family planning had increased airing the past year, and
other services stayed basically the same.. Mrs. Truesdale annouced that
Wayland Baptist University would .be offering a Food Manager's Workshop on
January 22, 23, 29, 30. There will be a Chief Sanitarian from Region II
office coming in to do the final food establishment inspectionwhich will
be conducted at the Golden Corral Steakhouse.
Excused absences were'requested..for Dr. G. Abercrombie, Dr. C.L. Busby;
and newly appointed Cityoffical, Earl Brown, who had previous arrangements
for today's. meeting. Mrs. Wobble moved to grant excused absences; Mrs. Tilson
seconded. Motion Carried.
Motion to adjourn made by Mrs. Tilson.
