The monthly meeting of the Plainview -Hale County Health District
Board of Health was called to order by Board Chairman Lanny
Voss on March 29, 1990 at the Golden Corral Steakhouse.
Those attending were: Lanny Voss, Dorothy Tilson, Anthony
A. Lyons, M.D., Lewellen Hooper, Gary Abercrombie; D.D.S.,
Nina Morris, Earl Brown, Don Dickson, Mary Lou Truesdale,
R.N., Gerald Nail, R.S., Sanitarian, Health Department,
Ben Linton, with guest Dana McBeth, and secretary Elvia Montez.
A special prayer was said by Lewelien Hooper for Dr. Mary
Bublis for her recovery and healing.
Chairman Voss asked that the Board review the minutes of Feb-
ruary's meeting. The Chairman introduced Gerald Nail, R.S.,
the new sanitarian for the health department. It was determined
that the minutes needed no corrections, and would stand approved
as presented.
The Expenditure Report was reviewed. A motion was made by
Dorothy Tilson and seconded by Dr. G. Abercrombie that the
report be approved. Motion carried.
Chairman Voss appointed the Budget Committee with the following
Board Members: Dorothy Tilson as Chairperson, Donna Womble
and Lanny Voss. The Budget committee will report to the
Board at the April meeting.
Dr. Lyons reported that the Health Department was in good
standing and running smoothly. He reported that the department
was receiving many complaints about sewer and septic systems
in Seth Ward. The Sanitarian is trying to work as many of
the complaints as possible. Some are being reported to
Region II.
Mrs. Truesdale reported that the American Red Cross is planning
to purchase a Blood Cholesterol Machine and has requested the
health department accept placing it at the department. The
department will be able to utilize the machine and collect
revenues. Mrs. Truesdale asked the board for permission to
pursue the negotiation between the American Red Cross and the
health department in the use of the cholesterol machine. Mrs.
Tilson moved to allow the department to pursue negotiations in
accepting the choloesterol screening machine. Mr. Hopper seconed

Mrs. Truesdale mentioned that our Nurse Practitioner, Lee
Whitacre will be leaving on maternity leave the later part
of May till the middle of June.
Chairman Voss asked for excused absences for Dr. Kit Linton,
Dr. C.L. Busby, and Dr. Mary Bublis. Excuses were granted.
Motion made by Dr- G. Abercrombie, seconded by Earl Brown,
the motion was carried.
Chairman Voss adjourned meeting.
