HomeMy WebLinkAbout07-25-1991 Board of Health MinutesBOARD MEETING JULY 25, 1991 The regular meeting of the Board of Directors of the Plainview - Hale County Health District was called to order at approximately 12:30 P.M., July 5, 1991, at the Golden Corral Steakhouse by Vice Chairman Dorothy Tilson. Those attending were: Dorothy Tilson, Mary Lou Truesdale, Nina Morris, Lewellen Hooper, Dr. Gary Abercrombie, Dr. Kit Linton, and Dr. 'Tony Loggins. Also present were two guests, Rose Fuen- tes and Paul Ou; also Secretary Billie Standefer. Vice Chairman Tilson asked Board Members to review the minutes of the last meeting. After corrections were noted, the minutes were approved as presented. Approval of the payment of June Expenditures were considered; Lewellen Hooper made the motion to approve payment of these Expenditures, and with a second to this motion by Dr. Gary Abercrombie, the Board voted to pay June Expenditures. Board members were given packets of information showing the up -dated Organizational Chart for the Health District, plus job descriptions for Department Staff and Administration. Mrs. Truesdale asked the Board for suggestions of ideas for ways to increase Community awareness of the Department's services. Vice Chairman Dorothy Tilson suggested having Wes Naron of KVOP (or both Radio Stations) originate a series on Health Department Services. Dr. Linton suggested publishing cost comparisons of unwanted pregnancies as opposed to Fam- ily Planning Methods. The Board reviewed changes in the Contracts ( for Septmeber 1, 1991 to August 31, 1992) between the Texas Department of Health and Plainview -Hale County Health District, and with a motion by Dr. Linton and a second to that motion by Lewellen Hooper, the Board voted to request a review and an approval of the Contracts by the City Council and the Commissioner's Court. In Mrs. Truesdale's report, she stated that Dr. Mary Bublis, Health District Director, was attending a two day T.B. work- shop for Physicians in Austin. She reported the current most reported Communicable Diseases as Strep, Gastroenteritis and Sore Throat. She shared with the Board the fact that a new Sanitarian (Ward Garner) had been hired and would report to work on August 5, 1991; she added that a present Staff -Nurse, Ann Mc Adams, had been promoted to the Nurse III position, with plans to place a new Nurse in the Nurse II position. Vice Chairman Dorothy Tilson introduced guests Rose Fuentes and Paul Ou, then requested excused absences for ]Jr. C.L. Busby, Donna le, Earl Brown and Lanny Voss. There was no other business. The Vice Chairrnan adjourned the meeting. Billie Standefer Secretary
