January 9th, 2013
Board Members Present: Dr. Ruth Rector -Wright, Ricky Mason,
Harold King, Stacie Hardage, Belinda Pena, Charlotte Adams, Nancy
Cox, Don Williams, and Sandra Dulakis.
Others Present: Dr. Sidney Ontai, Medical Authority, and Jeffrey
Snyder Assistant City Manager.
Staff Members Present: Kelli Shurbet R.N. (DON), and Sheila Carter
Secretary.
Sandra Dulakis called the meeting of the Plainview -Hale County
Board of Health to order at the Unger Memorial Library on January
9th, 2013 at 12:30 P.M.
First Item on Agenda: Invocation. Harold King gave the invocation.
Second Item on Agenda: Administer Oath of Office: Sandra Dulakis
administered Oath of Office to Stacie Hardage and Charlotte Adams.
Third Item on Agenda: Approval of minutes from the October 10th,
2012 meeting. Sandra Dulakis ask for approval of the October 10tH
2012 Minutes. Nancy Cox entertained a motion to approve the
minutes as written, and Harold King 2nd the motion. Minutes were
approved as written.
Fourth Item on Agenda: Review of expenditures. Don Williams
entertained a motion to approve the expenditures for September
2012, October 2012, and November 2012. Dr. Ruth Wright 2nd the
motion. Expenditures were approved as written.
Fifth Item on Agenda: Health Department news/ Update and discuss
communicable disease reports: Kelli Shurbet said that the Health
Department had been slow because of the holidays. There have
been 106 cases of Flu reported. We are out of the vaccine for the
65year olds and above. Kelli reported that we have given about 500
Flu shots this flu season. Kelli reported that she will start to write
the grants in February. Our yearly audit will be in April and it will
be done by the State, Region 1 out of Canyon Texas and Lubbock,
Texas. Sandra Dulakis ask if the grants were a big part of our
money we get to operate the Health Department and Kelli said yes.
Dr. Wright asked if we had an extra increase in SID'S and Kelli said
we had a big increase over the last couple of months. Sandra
Dulakis as if we ever referred them to other Doctors and Kelli said
yes we do. Kelli said we had an increase in pregnancy test.
Sixth Item on Agenda: Topics of concern the Board would like to
discuss from previous meeting. There were no items submitted for
discussion.
Seventh Item on Agenda: Topics of concern the Board would like to
discuss at next meeting. How we can keep Health Department
running and promoting it in the community. Education on Mental
Illness. Sandra Dulakis said she would talk to Ron Trusler about
coming and talking to the Board on Mental Illness. Getting guest
speakers to come in and talk to Board about different things.
Eighth Item on Agenda: Next Meeting Date. The next meeting will
be April 10, 2013°
Ninth Item on Agenda: Adjourn. Ricky Mason entertained a motion
to adjourn and Don Williams 2na
