July 27th, 2009
Board Members Present: Belinda Pena, Don Williams, Dr. Ruth
Rector -Wright, Cinde Ebeling, Judy Shannon, Nancy Cox, Stacie
Hardage, and Gaye Lynn Balzer.
Others Present: Benny Cantwell and Roy Martinez.
Staff Members Present: Laura Mason, LVN, and Sheila Carter,
Secretary.
Laura Mason called the Special called meeting of the Plainview -
Hale County Board of Health to order at the Unger Memorial Library
on July 27th, 2009 at 12:30 P.M.
First Item on Agenda: Invocation. The invocation Was given by
Belinda Pena.
Second Item on Agenda: Administer Oath of Office. Sally Tuelling
administered Oath of Office to Stacie Hardage and Don Williams.
Third Item on Agenda: Election of a New President. Judy Shannon
and Cinde Ebeling, were nominated. Judy Shannon was elected with
a 5 for and 3 against but she declined the position. Cinde Ebeling
was elected with a 7 for and 0 no's. Cinde Ebeling accepted the
nomination.
Fourth Item on Agenda: Approval of minutes from the March 12h,
2009 meeting. There was no correction to the minutes from the
March 12th 2009 meeting. Dr Ruth -Rector Wright entertained a
motion to approve the minutes as written and Don Williams 2na
Minutes were approved as written.
Fifth item on Agenda: Review of expenditures. Don Williams
entertained a motion to approve the expenditures as given and Dr.
Ruth -Rector Wright 2nd. Expenditures were approved as given.
Sixth Item on Agenda: Update and discusses communicable disease
reports: There is no Flu at the present time. Benny Cantwell ask
about the Cripto we don't have any here but there is some cases in
Lubbock. Laura Mason reported that STD'S is normal. Chlamydia is
a little higher than normal.
Seventh Item on Agenda: Health Department News. Laura Mason
reported that we were having are 3rd annual Wellness Funfest for
Children from Pre K thru 12th grades on August 6th 2009. We will be
giving free Immunization's each Wednesday in August from loam to
2pm, for school age children. Laura Mason reported that the H1N1
flu vaccine was different than the regular flu vaccine. Don Williams
ask if we had a count for the amount of flu shots that we gave in
2007 and 2008. Sheila Carter said she would get that information
and have it at the next board meeting.
Eighth item on Agenda: Discuss other health concerns the board
would like to address. There was no other health concerns.
Ninth Item on Agenda: Next proposed meeting will be November
12th, 2010.
Tenth Item on Agenda: Adjourn.
