HomeMy WebLinkAbout03-16-1995 Board of Health MinutesBOARD OF HEALTH MEETING THURSDAY MARCH 16, 1995 The regular meeting of the Board of Directors of the Plainview -Hale County Health District was called to order by Board Chairman Dr.Stephen L. Turner, at approximately 12:30 P.M., Thursday, March 16, 1995, at the Golden Corral Steakhouse. Those attending were: Stephen L. Turner, M.D., Dorothy Tilson, John Castro, Margaret Kay, Donna Womble, R.N., Kit Linton, M.D., Tony Loggins, M.D., City Manager Jim Jeffers and Mayor Lloyd C. Woods. Also present were Ben Linton and the secretary, Billie Standefer. After the minutes of the last meeting were approved as presented, and the Expenditures were approved, the Chairman noted the absence of Dr. Mary Bublis, and asked Mr. Castro to give his report. Mr. Castro stated the contract to start the renovation of the Depart- ment facility was still in the City Attorney's office, but cited April 1, 1995, as the date to finalize the contract. He also shared information from Texas Department of Health in Austin, that future funding (after 1996) would be allowed for the number of individual services provided. He stated there would probably be competition for services. Mr. Castro told Board members he had hired a new Director of Nurses, Lorie King, R.N. and two new L. V."N.'s - Tracie Prutzman and April Watkins. He said the D.O.N. would start to work on Monday, March 20, 1995 and the two L.V.N.'s would begin at the Department on Turesday, March 21, 1995. The Chairman stated he had heard good reports on Cheryn Russ, R.S., the Department's Sanitarian. He said individuals had expressed to him she was doing a good job and was very thorough in_her ,work. Mr. Castro explained that the Humane Society would be helping Animal Control with -cleaning the facility where the animals are kept. Mr. Castro said it had been noted that the Lubbock City Council had once again begin to discuss the smoking issue, and he felt that it would not be too long before the issue was presented, again, in the Plainview community.
