THURSDAY APRIL 13, 1995
The regular meeting of the Board of Directors of the
Plainview -Hale County Health District was called to order
by Board Chairman Dr. Stephen Turner at approximately
12:30 P,M., Thursday, April 13, 1995, at the Golden.
Corral Steakhouse.
Those attending were: Dr, Stephen Turner, Dorothy Til -
an, Dr. Mary Bublis, John Castro, Earl Brown, Margaret
Kay, Dr. Kit Linton, Don Dickson, Nina Morris, Benny
Cantwell, City Councilman Dwain Dodson and Mayor Lloyd
C. Woods.
Also present were the Department's new Director of Nur-
ses, Lorie King; the Department's Sanitarian, Cheryn Russ;
guests Bob Tilson and Ben Linton and the secretary, Billie
Standefer.
After declaring the minutes of the last meeting approved
as presented, the Chairman called for reports from Dr.
Mary Bublis and Mr. Castro.
Dr. Bublis stated the Communicable Diseases reported to
the Department in the last sixty days were: Flu, Upper
Respiratory Infections, Strep, Viral Syndrome, Gastro
Enteritis and Chicken Pox.
Mr. Castro introduced Lorie King, q' R.N., B.S.t�!. , the new
Director of Nurses.
He shared with Board members a Dr
in Hale Center had been sent an application to submit
to the City to become a Board of Health member.

He complimented the Staff members for working diligently
to move the furniture, equipment and supplies to the
West part of the building to help the workers get ready to
remove the flooring.
Mr. Castro stated he had applied for Title V Funding, but
had not received an answer to his application.

since the Texas Department of Health had changed thdopardy
regulations for grant monies offered the Department
ordinarily in Contracts. He explained that it
was
possible this would determine how many Staff members
the Department could continue to pay after ,eptember,
1996. He told Board members he planned to continue
quality- services at the Department. '
Mr. Castro said Kevin Keller had been hired at Animal
Control to oversee the shelter-, and stat
les had resigned as Animal Csastat Domingo Ro-

Chairman Turner asked about the "dog problem" in Seth
Ward.
Mr. Castro said he

The Chairman asked members to approve the
