HomeMy WebLinkAbout09-14-1995 Board of Health MinutesBOARD OF HEALTH MEETING THURSDAY SEPTEMBER 14, 1995 The regularly scheduled meeting of the Board of Directors of the Plainview _Hale County Health District was called to order by Board Chairman Dr. Stephen L. Turner at approx- imately 12:30 P.M., Thursday, September 14, 1995, at Plainview Country Club. Those attending were: Dr. Stephen L. Turner, Dorothy Til - son, Dr. Kit Linton, Margaret Kay, Donna Womble, R.N., Earl Brown, Dr. Michael Hinze, Commissioner Nina Morris, Commissioner Benny Cantwell, Larry Mc Bee, John Castro, and Lorie King, R.N. Also present were a guest, Ben Linton and the secretary, Billie Standefer. The Chairman asked for corrections/additions to the min- utes of the last meeting and minutes for the called meet- ing of August. 22, 1995. When none were noted, he declared the minutes approved as presented. He asked for a motion to approve payment of the expendi- tures. With a motion by Mrs. Tilson and a second by Dr. Hinze, the Board voted to approve expenditure payment. In Dr. Mary Bublis' absence, Mr. Castro reported Upper Respiratory Infections, Gastro Enteritis, Strep, Bron- chitis, Viral Syndrome and Pharengitis as the current most reported communicable diseases. In his own report, Mr. Castro explained the following: (a) Renovation had begun on the Health Department facility. (b) He had placed an ad in the newspaper for a San- itation Inspector to replace Cheryn Russ. (c) The Department Staff was operating in the East side of the Department facility. (d) Director of Nurses Lorie King had plans to move away from Plainview sometime in the future, and it would be necessary to advertise for another Nursing Supervisor. (e) He had written Nursing Regulation Authorities to establish whether the Department's LVN's could do exams for patients with Sexually Trans- mitted Diseases, but had not received a reply. (f) He was continuing to work on the Community Accessments . (g) He was concerned about looking into getting a new Medical Authority. In the discussion that followed, it was determined the Board was responsible for appointing the Medical Autho- rity.
