HomeMy WebLinkAbout03-14-1995 Library Board MinutesMarch 14, 1995 4 pm Unger Memorial Library Advisory Board met in the basement of the Library with the following attending: Albert Torres, Pat Kelly, and Rita Cronholm (Library Board members); Ruth Gooch, president of Friends of UML; Lucile Davis, WTLS Lay representative; Muff London, director of COmmunity of Development for the City of Plainview and John Sigwald, Librarian of Unger Library; and Minnie Ruth Rigler, literacy coordinator of Hale County Litracy Council. John told those present about the ADA bathroom which is being built next to the periodical room. John also told about Texas Library Association Conference to be held in Dallas April 4-7, 1995. Sue, Sally and John are planning to attend. Texas Library Assn. is the third largest in the US. John urged all present to attend if possible some time. The east wall of the main library has been repainted. Shelving was cut down to same height as the rest of library shelving. Hershel Henderson recently built a catalog sorter for the periodical area. Retrospective cataloging --conversion from card to automated --should be finished soon. Friends of UML will hold their annual meeting tonight at 7pm in the basement of the Library. Plans for the Book Sale on March 24 and 25 will be finalized as well as new officers elected. Ruth Gooch told everyone that magazines sold during the last year by the Friends of UML had brought in about $300. Muff London said that after April the City recycling effort will include plastic. Magazines are now accepted as well as office paper, newspaper, cardboard and glass. John told about an article in the Lubbock AJ recently by Wanda Evans regarding censorship. He urged everyone to read a copy of it if possible. Meeting was adjourned.
