HomeMy WebLinkAbout07-30-1990 Library Board MinutesThe Unger Memorial Library Advisory Board met on Monday, July 30, 1990 at 4:30 p.m. Those present were: John Sigwald Librarian Sherry Akin President Pat Kelly, Vice President/Secretary Albert Torres Board Member Mary Virginia Kirchhoff City Council Liaison Lucille Davis Mary Virginia Kirchhoff was welcomed as City Council liaison to the Library Board John Sigwald reported on his attendance to the American Library Association meeting. John has been notified by the City he would no longer have the funds to attend any out of state meetings. Librarian, John Sigwald, discussed 'the Hi -Plains Genealogical Society's computer program for automated archives now in the library. John gave the board an on -hands demonstration of the program following the meeting. The library served 84,000 patrons this past year. The board approved final drafts of library policies on Mission Statement, Library Cards: Borrowing Restrictions and Limitations and Fines. These are ready for City Council approval. John reviewed '90-'91 fiscal year budget requests to City Council. There was a $1,000.00 increase in book budget (we had requested a $7,000.00 increase). Increase in. "Book Processing" of $500.00 to $5,000.00 (we had requested $1,500.00 increase) and purchase of one portable bar code scanner for inventory. All other requests were denied. United Blood Services will sponsor a blood drive at the Library. John indicated anytime you could have people in the library, that was good exposure for the library as well as a public service for the community.
