HomeMy WebLinkAbout09-12-1977 Library Board MinutesUnger Memorial Library Advisory Committee September 12, 1977 The regular meeting of the Unger Memorial Library Advisory Committee was called to order by Mrs. Merwyn Igo, President, at 7:15 p.m. Monday, Sep- tember 12, 1977, in the Librarian's Office. Present were Ruby Curry, Susan LaFont, Malcolm Tisdel, David Willson, Lloyd Woods, and Judy Smith, Librarian. The minutes of the August 1, 1977, meeting were approved as presented. The Librarian's report for July was presented. Miss Smith presented the Committee with copies of the report on the County Outreach Program for 1977 and with copies of the 1977-1977 budget request to be presented to the County. Mr. Tisdel moved and Mrs. Curry seconded that the report and request be approved. The motion carried. Miss Smith will make an appointment for members of the Committee to appear before the County Commissioners' Court to present the report and budget request. Copies of the approved City budget for 1977-1978 were presented to the Committee for their information. Mrs. Igo noted that although the total budget had increased by $10,000, only $1,000 of that total would be spent for services. The Committee amended a policy on the lending of the 16 mm projectors as presented by Miss Smith. The rental charge per day will be $2.00. Mrs. Curry moved and Mr. Tisdel seconded that the policy be approved as amended. The motion carried. Miss Smith presented the Committee with a statistical sheet showing the number of books and the cost,at the time of purchase, lost in circulation from January 1976 through June 1977. She also presented a suggested policy on overdue materials. Mrs. LaFont moved and Mrs. Curry seconded that the overdue policy be approved as amended and go into effect October 1, 1977. The motion carried. Miss Smith will send copies of the amended policy to the Committee members, along with copies of the letters to be sent to the patrons with overdue materials. Miss Smith will make arrangements for another series of Fine -Free Days to be held before the new policy becomes effective.
