The regular meeting of the Unger Memorial Library Advisory Committee was
called to order by, /00 Mervyn Igo, President, at 7:20 P.M., Monday,
March 7, 1977, in the 'Librarian's Office. Present were Ruby Curry, Susan
LaFont, Ma Coln Tisdel, David Willson, Lloyd Woods, and Judy Smith, Li-
brarian.
The minutes of the February 7, 1977, meeting were approved as presented.
The Librarian's report for February was presented.
Miss Smith read a letter from Dr. Gwin Morris requesting that the Library
lend the Travis letter to the Llano Estacado Museum for a special Texas
history exhibit. The Ctm mittee agreed to lend the letter for the exhibit,
and asked Miss Smith to contact Dr. Morris to work out the details.
The Committee discussed plans for National Library Week, April 17-23. It
was decided to show films Tuesday and Thursday nights and to show childrens'
films Saturday morning. Mrs. LaFont will make arrangements for serving
pop corn at the fil0 showings.
Mrs. Igo announced that the West Texas Library System Advisory Council will
meet Friday, March 18 at 10 A.M. in the Library Conference Roam. She asked
all Committee members to attend. Miss Smith will ask Mayor Bob Wayland to
welcome those attending the Council meeting.
Miss Smith announced that plans were being made for the County Summer Pro-
gram. Films will be selected and reserved during March.
Mrs. LaFont reported that plans were underway for the reorganization of
the Friends of the Library. The reorganizational meeting will be held as
soon as possible.
Miss Smith reported that she would take the letters of notification for
overdue materials to Joe Sharp for his signature within the next week.
The Committee was presented with copies of the budget and expenditures
for 1977 for their consideration in advance of the preparation of the 1978
budget request which will be considered at the April meeting.
The meeting was adjourned at 8 P.M.
