November 3, 1975
The regular meeting of the Unger Memorial Library Advisory Committee was
called to order in the Library Conference Room at 7:20 p.m. Monday,
November 3, 1975, by Mrs. Merwyn Igo, President. Present were Mrs. Ruby
Curry, Mrs. Susan La?ont, Malcolm Tisdel, David Willson, Jeane Browning,
and Judy Smith, Librarian.
The minutes from the meeting of October 6 were approved as presented. The
Librarian's Report for October was presented. Miss Smith read a thank you
not to the Committee from Mrs. LaFont.
Miss Smith explained to the Committee that beginning December 1, 1975,
the Area Libraries would no longer serve as referral centers for Inter-
library loan. All requests will be phoned directly to Lubbock from each
library.
Mrs. Igo reported that she had conferred with City Manager Marshall Pharr
about the paving of the Library's parking lot. Mr. Pharr stated that there
was $1,100 left in the Special Fund and that paving the lot will cost about
$3,500. The City wants to wait until December for Revenue Sharing funds
which will be used to supplement the Special Fund.
Mrs. Igo also reported that Mr. Pharr stated that the City has been trying
to get the hole on the north side of the building repaired. They have not
yet found a repairman who will repair the hole.
It was moved and seconded and approved that the Committee send letters of
appreciation to Rep. Pete Laney and Senator Ray Farabee thanking them for
their support of LSA funding.
The Committee decided to invite the Board of Directors of the Friends of
the Library for coffee Saturday, November 22, at 10 a.m. in the Library
Conference Room. The Committee would like to inform the Friends of the
November 3, 1975
Library's plans and needs.
The Committee then began discussion of the Five -Year Plan. The discussion
will continue at the December meeting.
The meeting was adjourned at 8:50 p.m.
