HomeMy WebLinkAbout08-04-1975 Library Board MinutesUNGER MEMORIAL LIBRARY ADVISORY COMMITTEE August 4, 1975 The regular meeting of the Unger Memorial Library Advisory Committee was called to order at 7:45 p. m. in the Library Conference Room by Mrs. Merwyn Igo, President. Present were Malcolm Tisdel, David Willson, Ruby J Curry, and Judy Smith, Librarian. David Willson was welcomed as a member of the Committee. The minutes from the July 7, 1975 meeting were approved as presented. The Librarian's report for July was presented. Miss Smith was instructed to send a letter of appreciation to Curt Jones from the Committee thanking him for his service. She will also send a letter of appreciation to Penny Worley thanking her for her work with the Summer Out- reach Program. Miss Smith announced that she and Miss Worley will meet with the County Commissioners_on August 8 to report on the success of the Summer Outreach Pro- gram. Members of the Committee will meet with the County Commissioners on August 25 to present our budget request for 1976. The Committee will ask that the $750 monthly (or $9000 annual)contribution be continued and $1,779 be appropriated for continuation of the Summer Outreach Program. Miss Smith presented copies of the Outreach Program request and was instructed to prepare a fact sheet of just- ifications for the continuation of the $9,000 annual contribution. This fact sheet will include such information as the following: the number of new books purchased, the average price and percentage of increase; the number of books pur- chased with Hale County funds; standard collection size and our collection size; percentage of circulation to out -of -city patrons; and the fact that the increase in the City budget will be minimal cost -of -living only. Since the regular meeting for September will fall on Labor Day, the Committee decided to meet again on September 8. The meeting was adjourned at 8:30 p. m.
