February 11, 2014
Board members present were Kenna Hatch and Melissa Wilkinson, along with outgoing
member Kevin Sweeney and the two new members Joe Ed Sullivan and Leticia Gaucin. Also
present were Linda Shipp, President of the Genealogical Society, and Kim Horne, President of
UML Friends organization.
John opened the meeting by introducing the two new members to all that were present. He
provided a general overview of the purpose of the Library Board, mainly for the benefit of the
new members.
A farewell was given to outgoing Board member Kevin Sweeney. An appreciation plaque will be
presented to him for his eight years of service on the Board.
New officers were accepted with no objections from other Board members. They will be
President --Kenna Hatch, and Vice President --Melissa Wilkinson.
Kim Horne reminded everyone that the annual Friends' book sale will be the last Friday and
Saturday in March (28th and 29th) with the main setup for the sale on Saturday, March 22.
John informed everyone that he was working on finishing his second edition of a Hale County
bibliography. He explained the purpose of it and what kind of information he was including. He
asked for any suggestions for other materials which might contain mention of Hale County, its
cities, people, etc. John also spoke of the expected costs of publication and that he was hoping
to get donations from businesses and individuals to help dispel those costs.
John took pictures of the Board members to include with the library's online information.
The meeting was dismissed at 5:00.
