HomeMy WebLinkAbout02-11-1997 Library Board Minutes2-11-97 4 pm Unger Memorial Library Advisory Board met in the basement of the Library with the following in attendance: Geoff Wells, Barbara Green, Rita Cronholm, Maisie Jones and Caroline Kopp (Board members); Joy Denton, president of High Plains Genealogical Society; Phil Cox, president of Friends of UML and Librarian John Sigwald. John told those present that he will be attending American Library Association Midwinter Conference in Washington, DC this coming weekend - leaving Friday, February 14, 1997 and returning on Monday night, February 17, 1997_ The UML Internet has been updated; specifically, the Library 's Home Page_ John urged everyone to try it and see what they think_ John announced that a $3000. grant has been given to the Library. Laura Bush, wife of Governenr George Bush and Nelda Laney, wife of House Speaker Pete Laney, have contacted John with the information that this money is now available. This comes from the Inaugural Endowment Fund - the surplus of which is being given in grants. John is possibly going to get 25 Shakespearean videos that are available for $2500. Also, John will be requesting a grant this week from the Junior Service League. More on that at next months meeting. Friends of UML have agreed to purchase a Pentium -133 motherboard for John's computer which will allow him better and faster productivity. The annual Friends of UML Book Sale will be held this year on April 4-5. John told everyone that he will be sending proposed budget for next year to City Hall in APril and will give more info_ on that later. Business After Hours will be held at the Library on March 27, 1997_ Caroline Kopp will coordinate_ All present were urged to attend_ Meeting was adjourned_
