HomeMy WebLinkAbout10-11-2012 Parks Advisory Board MinutesPARK ADVISORY COMMISSION BOARD MEETING MINUTES October 11, 2012 The City of Plainview Park Advisory Board, as appointed by City Ordinance Number 95-3035, dated, as approved, March 28, 1995, held an open meeting Thursday, April 14, 2011, in the Council Chambers, 901 Broadway Street, Plainview, Texas. Minutes for this meeting are hereby submitted as follows. ITEM 1. Called to order by chair Lucile Davis at 4:34 P.M. 2. Invocation given by Ruby Riggins. 3. Members present were: Joani Chapman, Gabriel Rodriguez, Lucile Davis, Barbara Ramirez and Ruby Riggins 4. Members absent were: Phyllis Wall, Carlene Kirby, vacancy 5. Guests present: none 6. City Staff present was: Rusty Reese, Park Superintendent 7. April 12, 2011 meeting minutes were given by Lucile Davis and approved as read. 8. Old Business: Update on�y,�?arks A. Rusty explained the pfd 4 r watering parks this year were to take* sectionut of the more popular areas and water them and maintain the sports field. He went on 44 say, that by use this'agfellie/ parks did see a continued decline in trees in the un -watered areas/after the department will spend a large amount of time removing them, much like last winter. 2Zzedsgezi B. Update on 2012 park improvement. Rusty stated tht th lighting update on 12th & Utica park v mplete and there were only three spotwe uired lighting at a total cost of $1,902.58. Rusty went on to say the remainingaon 12 drinking: fountains for various parks4penditures wered concrete $1,350, piping $713.52, wire $178.49 and $21,250 for fountains for a total of $ 23,492.26. 9. New Business: A. Park improvements 2013. Rusty told members that there is $25,000 available this year for improvements. Rusty requested that members be thinking of how and,kr what improvements they want for discussion. 10. Open meeting for comments and questions. A. Rusty told members that there has been an update to the nuisance ordinanceai large part of the reason why is because the parks have received several complaints in concerns over pet waste being left in the park by pet ownerspaw1 the updated ordinance covered failure to clean up after their pets. Rusty went on to read the ordinance to the board members. 11. Next meeting set for January 10, 2013. 12. Meeting adjourned at 5:17 P.M.
