City Council Chambers 901 Broadway Plainview, Texas CITY COUNCIL MINUTES The City Council of the City of Plainview met in regular session at 7:30 P. M. in the City Council Chamber of the City Hall with Mayor Bob Wayland presiding and the following Councilmen present: Jeane Browning-Place One, Medlin Carpenter-Place Two, Lloyd Woods- Place Three, Tom Almon-Place Four and A. William SoRelle-Place Five. Also present were the following City Staff: John Hatchel-City Manager, Randy Holly- Administrative Assistant, Tom Hamilton-City Attorney, Walter S. Dodson-Tax Assessor- Collector-City Clerk, Johnnie Ballew-Director of Safety and Environment, Bill Hogge- Director of Public Works, Norman Huggins-Director of Finance, Joe Ferguson-Director of Fire Services, Alan Stewart-Director of Police Services and Elaine Corn-Deputy Tax Assessor- Collector. Also present were the following visitors: Hector Hinojosa, B. D. Perkins, Mark Mathis, John Marse, Brent Adair, Dean Teykl, Chris Goree, Eugene Conrad, Pat Marse, Blake MorrSs, Shari Campbell-Plainview Daily Herald, Lydia Guerra-Reporter News, Nick [ong-KVOP, Charles Bechtold-KAMC TV. Invocation was given by Norman Huggins. It was moved by Alderman Woods, seconded by Alderman SoRelle, to approve the minutes of the regular City Council Meeting held October 9, 1979 and the City Council Work Session minutes held October 18, 1979. Motion carried unanimously. It was move~ by Alderman Carpenter, seconded by Alderman Browning, to approve Resolu- tion No. R79-168 accepting bids and awarding contract for the purchase of an air compressor '%or the Fire Department to High Pressure Equipment Co. in the amount of $5,750.00. Motion carried unanimously. It was moved by Alderman Carpenter, seconded by Alderman Almon, to approve Resolution No. R79-169 approving and authorizing the City Manager to execute a contract with Parkhill, Smith & Cooper for engineer work on utility adjustments and.improvements, in preparation for the construction of Interstate 27. Motion carried unanimously. O0 O92 October 23, 1979 Page 2 CITY COUNCIL MINUTES It was moved by Alderman Woods, seconded by Alderman $oRelle, to approve Resolution No. R79-170 casting the City of Plainview votes for the Director of the Tax Appraisal District to Tom Almon. Motion carried unanimously. Randy Holly, Administrative Assistant, announced a Public Hearing to be held on November 6, 1979, at 7:30 P.M. in the eouncil Chambers of City Hall for the PurPose of solicitina citizen input on a SteD I study of the City's waste water facilities. Public Hearing was announced for the Street Improvement Assessment at 10:00 A.M. on November 12, 1979, in the City Council Chambers. It was moved by Alderman Woods, seconded by Alderman Carpenter, to approve Budgeted Expenditures totaling $63,373.34. Motion carried unanimously. Mayor and City Council commended Shari Campbell at her last Council Meeting. Shari will be working for KSEL in Lubbock. It was moved by Alderman Carpenter, seconded by Alderman Woods, to adjourn.
