ADVISORY COUNCIL MEETING

SPONSOR PRESENT:
*The meeting was called to order by President Gary Stennett.
Minutes of the April 12, 2016 meeting were approved.
*Alfred Henderson was introduced as guest. His wife, Rubye was last month's Volunteer
of the Month, but was unable to attend the meeting.
* Nancy Bowden is the Volunteer of the Month for May and Johnny Brooks for June.
*Irma gave the financial report for March.
* "My Dad Reads to Me" is back up and running with 7 dads to be recorded.
*Community gardeners were given potting soil and wood chips by City Parks
Superintendent, Ricky Summers.
*May Birthday Recognition will be May 1 1th at McDonald's.
*Gary reported on the RSVP Golf Tournament set for June 4th.
*Irma reported that the grant application has been submitted to the state office. Two FFR
reports were turned in during April.
*National Senior Corps Week is May 16-20.
*Irma reported that she plans to attend the Texas Senior Corps Association Conference
on June 13-16 in Houston.
*The upcoming raffle was discussed. Rodney Watson will donate 3 prints of his art
work. It was suggested that tickets be sold for $5 each or 5 tickets for $20.
*Twyla reported a total of 374 volunteers. Of that number, 224 served 1179 hours in
March.
* The next meeting will be June 21, 2016.
*Meeting was adjourned.
