HomeMy WebLinkAbout08-04-2016 Council MinutesThe City Council met on August 4, 2016 at 11:45 a.m., at the Plainview Convention 51 Center, 2902 W. 4th Street, Plainview, Texas. The agenda for this meeting was posted in City Hall at 10:45 a.m. on August 1, 2016. Mayor Wendell Dunlap presided. Councilmembers present were: Charles Starnes -District 1, Larry Williams -District 2, Norma Juarez -District 3, Teressa King -District 4, and Susan Blackerby-District 5. Councilmembers John Gatica-District 6 and Oliver Aldape-District 7 were absent. Staff members present were: Jeffrey Snyder -City Manager, Leslie Schmidt -City Attorney, Ken Coughlin -Police Chief, Rusty Powers -Fire Chief, Isauro Gutierrez -Information Technology Manager, Sarianne Beversdorf-Director of Finance, Kelli Shurbet- Nursing Supervisor, Tim Crosswhite-Director of Public Works, Cris Valverde -Community Development Manager and Belinda Hinojosa-City Secretary. News Media Present: Homer Marquez -Plainview Herald Guests present were: Mike Fox and Chris Holt Mayor Dunlap led in the Invocation. Jeffrey Snyder, City Manager presented information on a request for the City Council to consider the replacement of the 25 irrigation satellites controller boxes for the irrigation system at an estimated cost of $83,767.50. These controller boxes are reaching the end of their life and have been repaired to a point they cannot be worked on or parts are hard to find. The City owns the Golf Course property and the entire building that includes the Country Club and Civic Center facilities. There is a management agreement between the City and the Country Club to run the daily operations on behalf of the City. A few years back, the City started subsidizing the Golf Course operations annually in the amount of $25,000 to help with maintenance of the course which the majority of that goes toward paying the Golf Carts lease for the course. Chris Holt, General Manager provided information as to the necessity to replace the 25 irrigation satellite controller boxes. The Council and staff reviewed the agenda for the City Council meeting of August 9, 2016.
