HomeMy WebLinkAboutRSVP Minutes 06-21-2016THE RUNN1NGWATER DRAW RSVP ADVISORY COUNCIL MEETING NNE 21, 2016 MEMBERS PRESENT: STAFF PRESENT: Bobbye Dennis Nicki Logan Twyla Woodring Alice Rey Gail Williams Irma Shackelford Emma Herring Gary Stennett SPONSOR PRESENT: Carol Schulz Sally Phillips *The meeting was called to order by President Gary Stennett. Sally gave the invocation. Minutes of the May 10, 2016 meeting were approved. *Irma gave the financial report for April. * "My Dad Reads to Me" is busy with 6 dads to be recorded for a total of 14 children. *Community garden are looldng, good. J & J donated 2 truckloads of plants. There is a dog causing problems at the 28th Street g.arden. *June Birthday Recognition was June 8in at McDonald's. *The RSVP Golf Tournament was very successful. Gary was thanked for helping to coordinate it again this year. Eight teams took part in the tournament. *Irma reported that the federal grant ends on June 30th and a new one starts on July lsc *Irma reported on the recent Texas Senior Corps Association Conference in Houston. *Irma and Twyla assisted Melinda Brown with replanting the downtown planters. *RSVP and the 4-11 will clean the Hike and Bike Trail on Saturday, July 30t. This is conjunction with Operation Serve and city-wide cleanup. *RSVP will participate in the Red, White and Moo Parade on July 2nd *RSVP volunteer Carolyn Warrick was recently honored with the Silver Star Award from the Plainview Cultural Arts Council. *As part of the grant reporting 189 surveys for independent living — home delivered meals were sent out with 104 being returned. All had positive feedback. *Irma and Twyla will be weeding out inactive RSVP volunteers. Emphasis is being placed on having volunteers working in the 6 focus areas. *Another "Thanks and Welcome Home" basket will be presented to a local veteran in the near future. *Twyla reported a total of 376 volunteers.
