BOARD MEMBERS PRESENT: Mark Hardin, Joe Frank Rodriguez, Kevin Carter and David
Murphree and Nicole Ramirez.
STAFF MEMBERS PRESENT: Robert Zapata, City Inspector, Judy Rasher, Community Service
Secretary.
Mark Hardin called the meeting to order at 6:00 P. M.
FIRST ITEM ON THE AGENDA: Approval of October 24, 2016 minutes. Kevin Carter made a
motion to approve minutes as presented. David Murphree seconded the motion. Motion
carried unanimously.
SECOND ITEM ON THE AGENDA:
BA Case # 1687: Consider the request of a special exception of the minimum front set
back authorizing the construction of a Carport under the City of Plainview Zoning
Ordinance Section 37.2.2(H) Special Exceptions.
Property Owner: Marvin Ellis
Address: 1404 W 26 St
Legal Description: Block 6 Lot 3 Unit 2 of the Thunderbird Addition
Zoning: R2
Homeowner, Marvin Ellis is wanting to install a 22 x 24 carport in front of his home, located
at 1404 W 26 Street. In surveying the surrounding area, staff observed several carports on the
same street. As per code Section 37.2.2(h), there is no other practical location on the property
for him to install the carport. 16 Letters were sent out to the neighbors. Received 1 letter in
favor of the carport. Mr. Ellis has complied with the set back from the front and side of the
property lines. Nicole Ramirez made a motion to approve the variance based on the request.
Joe Frank Rodriguez seconded and the motion was carried unanimously.
