NOW THEREFOP~, be it resolved by the City Council of The City of Plainview, Texas, that the execuZi0n of said contract by JOhn F. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OOU!~OIL OF T}~ C~Y OP PL~I~YIm~i~, TEXAS: That Ordinance I~o. &9 o£ the Ordinances off' the City of Plain- view, Texas', is hereby amended by addi~ thereto ~ection 3, which s~ection shall be and rea~Sa2 follow~: Section 3. All criminal laws of the State o£ Texas relative to and governing the operation: of motor vehicles upon the public highways~ roads, streets and alleys, where the municipal court is granted juris- diction by general law of this State, are hereby adopted as the law of the City of Pla, inview, Texas, and the penalties thereby provided are also adopted. The fact that the laws £or the .regulation of the operation of motor vehicles within ti~e limits of the City of Plainview, Texas, are inadequate to insure public safety creates an,:, e~ergency requiri~ the rule that all ordinances shall be read on three separate meetings before passage, be suspended, and such rule is hereby suspended, and this ordinmuce shall be in effect frem ~d after the date off its pass- PASSED ~!~D APPR0~ED this the !6th daY-of September, 1940, Atteat: J. ~y. Day, m~d 0ounty 0om- missioners, B. R. Arthur, R, A. Daugherty and E, ~; Rankin, 0ity 0ounci!men, C. H. Hancock, E. ~. Osborne, ~loyd Poet and Tom ROberts, the following business was transacted, to wit: Alderman Osborne made a motion, which motion was seconded by commissioner Rankin, that the Oity ahd County purchase three-hundred- ~wenty (~20) acres of land at ~o5.00 per acre, and each to iaaY one- half (~) of the purchase price which land will be described in deed and abstract, and to be used for au Airport. The motion was discussed, then Judge Day put the motion an& it was carried by unanimous vote of~ the entire body, There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned. ~rank R.
