HomeMy WebLinkAboutR99-103RESOLUTION R99-103 A Resolution of the City of Plainview regarding entering into an Interlocal Cooperation Contract with the Panhandle Regional Electrical Licensing Agency (PRELA). WHEREAS, the City of Plainview believes it is in the best interest of its residents to further the advancement of standardized testing and licensing of electricians; and WHEREAS, the Panhandle Regional Electrical Licensing Agency (PRELA), is a consortium of local governments formed to plan, coordinate and facilitate the cooperative development and operation of a regional electrical licensing agency, to enable members to better serve the population of the Panhandle area of the State of Texas, to further the mission of its respective Members, and to contribute to improved standards for the issuing, renewal and revocation of electrical licenses; and WHEREAS, the Panhandle Regional Electrical Licensing Agency has been created by Interlocal agreements among area cities as a vehicle to facilitate standardized testing and licensing of electricians; and WHEREAS, the Interlocal Government Cooperation Act provides for contractual agreements between governmental entities; and WHEREAS, the City of Plainview desires to become a member of the Panhandle Regional Electrical Licensing Agency through an Interlocal governmental cooperation contractual agreement with the members of the Panhandle Regional Electrical Licensing Agency. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City of Plainview that the Mayor is authorized to execute the Interlocal Cooperation Contract with the Panhandle Regional Electrical Licensing Agency to provide for the standardization of testing, issuing, renewing, and revoking of electrical licenses and to accept such electrical licenses as issued by the Panhandle Regional Electrical Licensing Agency.
