AN ORDINANCE PROHIBITING PARKING ON THAT PART OF 24TH STREET IN THE CITY
OF PLAINVIEW FROM THE WEST BOUNDARY LINE OF DATE STREET TO THE SOUTH
BOUNDARY LINE OF STATE HIGHWAY NUMBER 87 (THE SAME BEING INTERSTATE
HIGHWAY NUMBER 27); PROVIDING A PENALTY FOR THE VIOLATION THEREOF; AND
DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
WHEREAS, congestion of traffic on that part of 24th Street in the
City of Plainview, Texas, from the West boundary line of Date Street to
the South boundary line of State Highway Number 87 (same being Interstate
Highway Number 27), makes it advisable to prohibit parking of motor vehicles
of any kind on said part of 24th Street; NOW, THEREFORE,
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLAINVIEW:
SECTION 1: Parking any kind of motor vehicle on either side of that

SECTION 2: No person shall park or cause to be parked a motor vehicle,
automobile, truck, truck tractor, or motor vehicle of any kind on either side
of that part of 24th Street in the City of Plainview from the West boundary
line of Date Street to the South boundary line of State Highway Number 87
(the same being Interstate Highway Number 27).
SECTION 3: Ail ordinances or parts of any ordinance of the City of
Plainview, Texas, in conflict herewith are hereby amended to conform with
the provisions hereof.
SECTION 4: Any person who shall violate or fail to comply with any
of the provisions of this Ordinance shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor
and upon conviction thereof shall be punished by a fine in a sum of not less
than One Dollar ($1.00), nor more than Two Hundred Dollars ($200.00).
SECTION 5: The fact that the crowded conditions of traffic on the
portion of the street hereinabove described creates a dangerous situation
and is a condition that should be corrected immediately to prevent accidents
and possible loss of life and property, thereby creates an emergency and an
urgent public necessity requiring that any rule providing for ordinances to
be read more than one time or at more than one meeting of the City Council
be suspended, and requiring thatthis ordinance be passed and take effect
as an emergency measure, and any such rules or provisions are accordingly
suspended and this ordinance is passed as an emergency' measure, and shall
take effect amd be in full force from and after its passage.
