HomeMy WebLinkAbout80-2386 ordORDINANCE NO. 80-2586 ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 65-865 AND REPEALING A PART OF ORDINANCE NO. 76-1988 FIXING THE FEES FOR LICENSES FOR DOGS AND CATS AND PROVIDING THE FEE FOR Ti~E IMPOUNDING AND KEEPING OF ]DOGS AND CATS. WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Plainview, Texas, has determined that it would be in the best interest of the pub- lic tha~ the license fee assessed against the owner or keeper of every dog or cat in the city should ]De reduced from $2.50 to $2.00 per annum; and WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Plainview, Texas, has determined that it would be in the best interest of the pub- lic that the charge for impounding each dog and cat for the first time in any calendar year should be increased from $6.00 to $7.00 and for each subsequent time a dog or cat is impounded in any calendar year, said charge should be increased from $12.00 to $14.00. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLAINVIEW, TEXAS: Section 3 of Ordinance 65-865 shall be, and the same is herO, bY amended as follows: "SECTION3: LICENSES, FEES, DURatION. There is hereby fixed and assessed as a police regulation for the protection of the public health a license fee of $2.00 per annum against the owner or keeper of each and every dog or cat kept in the City. The license shall run from January 1st to December 31st of each year, and any part of such year shall be deemed and considered the entire year." Section 3: Subparagraph (a) of Section 7 of Ordinance 65-865 shall be, and the same is, hereby amended as follows: "(a) ~he Director of Public Safety shall charge a fee of $7.00 for each dog or cat impounded for the first time in any calendar year. For each subsequent time a dog or cat is impounded in any calendar year, the Director of Public Safety shall charge a fee of $14.00. In addition to the fee above specified, the Director of Public Safety shall charge a fee of $3.00 for each day such dog or cat remains in the pound." Section 1 of Ordinance 76-1988 providing for the assessment of a license fee of $2.50 per annum against the owner or keeper of every dog or cat in the City of Plainview, Texas is hereby repealed. Section 3 of Ordinance No. 76-1988, providing for the fee of $6.00 for each dog or cat impounded for the first time in any calendar year and providing for the fee of $12.00 for each sub- sequent time a cat or dog is impounded in any calendar year is hereby repealed.
