IEW, TEXAS TO NINE ME~ERS AND ADDING ONE ADDITIONAL EX OFFICIO MEMBER AND PRO- - VIDING FOR THE APPOINTMENT OF ME~ERS OF THE PARKS, OPEN SPACE, AND RECREATION ADVIS~.ORY COMMITTEE OF THE CITY OF PLAINVIEW TEYJ~S. , WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Plainview, Texas, has determined that it would be in the best interest of the I.public that the number of voting members of the Parks, Open Space, and Recreation Advisory Committee of the City of Plainview, Texas be increased from five members to nine members and that an additional ex officio member from the Chamber of Commerce Indus- trial Committee, City of Plainview, Texas should be appointed to said Co~ittee.; WHEREAS, the City council of the City of Plainview, Texas, has determined that it would be in the best interest .of the public that five members of the voting committee be appointed on even numbered years and~ four members of the voting committee be ap- pointed on odd numbered years. NOW, .THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLAINVIEW, TEXAS: Section 1 of Ordinance 74-1578 shall be, and the same is hereby amended as follows: "SECTION 1: The Parks, Open Space, and Recreation Advisory Committee shall consist of the following members:. Appointed: Nine residents of the-Ci%y of Plainview, Texas appointed by the Mayor and City Council. Ex Officio: A representative of the Plainview Independent School District; Executive director of the Plainwiew YMCA; President of the Noon Optimist Club, or his appointed representative; A member of the Plainview City Council; The Supervisor of the Parks and Recreation Department for the City of Plainview, Texas; A member of the Chamber of Commerce Industrial Committee. Each of the ~nine voting members of the Parks, Open Space, and Recreation Advisory Committee shall be appointed for a term of two years. Five of the members shall be appointed beginnimg July 1 in even numbered years, and four members shall be appointed beginning July 1 in odd numbered years. No person shall serve more ~han two full successive.rterms as a member of the Parks, Open Space, and Recreation Advisory Committee. Any term of office of any member of the Parks, Open Space, and Recreation Advisory Com- mittee expiring earlier than on June 30 in any year shall be filled by appointment by the City Council until June 30." Section 2 of Ordinance 74-1578 shall be, and the same is hereby amended as follows: "SECTION 2: The nine appointed members shall be the voting members of 'the Parks, Open Space, and Recreation Advisory. Com- mittee and shall elect their chairman and vice-chairman. The supervisor of the Parks will act as secretary." Section 4 of Ordinance 74-1578 shall be, and the same is hereby amended as follows: "SECTION 4: Mandatory attendance requirement: Each member of the Parks, Open Space and Recreation Advisory Committee shall attend no less than 75% of the regular, special, or emergency meetings called by.the officers of the committee. The secre%ary of the-co~nittee shall make a quarterly report to the Mayor and City Council showing the attendance of each memeber of the Board. Any representative failing to attend 75% of the regular, special or emergency meetings legally called during any calendar year shall be automatically disqualified for service on the committee and shall be replaced by the City Council. Should a member of authority move from the city of otherwise become disqualified for any reason, he shall vacate the office. Vacancies occuring in the Darks, ~Open Space and Recreation Advisory Committee of the City of Plainview, Texas, shall be filled by appointment for the unexpired term."
