HomeMy WebLinkAbout81-2448 ord ORDINANCE NO.81-2448 AN ORDINANCE CHANGING THE ANGLE OF VEHICLE PARKING IN PLAINVIEW, TEXAS, ON THE EAST SIDE AND WEST SIDE OF BROADWAY STREET BETWEEN 2ND STREET AND 3RD STREET TO PARALLEL PARKING, ON THE EAST SIDE AND WEST SIDE OF BROADWAY STREET BETWEEN 3RD STREET AND 5TH STREET FROM 45° ANGULAR PARKING TO 30° ANGULAR PARKING, ON THE EAST SIDE AND WEST SIDE OF BROADWAY STREET BETWEEN 9TH STREET AND 12TH STREET FROM 45° ANGULAR PARKING TO 30° ANGULAR PARKING, AND PROVIDING A PENALTY. WHEREAS, the different widths of Broadway Street in certain blocks created a traffic hazard because of vehicles being required to change from four lanes of traffic to two lanes and from two lanes to four lanes; and, WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Plainview has determined that it would be in the best interest of the public that the angle of parking on bOth the east and west Side of parts of Broadway Street be changed so as to provide for four (4) full lanes of vehicle traffic throughout the length of Broadway Street, thus providing continuity and providing for much safer traffic flow for the public; NOW THEREFORE BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLAINVIEW, TEXAS: SECTION 1: Ail motor vehicles shall be parked on the east side and west side of Broadway Street, Plainview, Texas, in the following designated areas as herein specified: (a) All Vehicles shall be parked parallel with the curb on the east side and west side of Broadway Street from the ~orth boundary line of the intersection of West 2nd Street and Broadway Street north to the south boundary line of West 3rd Street and Broadway Street; (b) All vehicles shall be parked at a 30° angle with the curb on the east side and west side of Broadway Street from the north boundary line of the intersection of West 3rd Street and Broadway Street north to the south boundary line of the intersecti0n~of ~We'st~5th Street and Broadway Street; (c) Ail vehicles shall be parked at a 30© angle with the curb on the e~st side and west side of Broadway Street from the north boundary line of the intersection of West 9th Street and Broadway Street north to the south boundary line of the intersection of West 12th Street. SECTION 2: All ordinances or part of any ordinance of the City of lalnvlew in conflict herewith are hereby amended to conform with the provisions hereof. SECTION 3: Any person who shall violate or fail to comply with any provision of this ordinance shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor and upon conviction shall be punished by fine of not less than $1.00 or more than $200.00 PASSED AND APPROVED ON FIRST READING this the 28th day of April 1981.
