HomeMy WebLinkAbout83-2530 ord ORDINANCE NO. $3-2530 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 80-2404 DESIGNATING JOLIET STREET BETWEEN WEST .24TH STREET AND WEST 26TH STREET IN THE CITY OF PLAINVIEW, TEXAS, AS A SCHOOL ZONE AND PROVIDING FOR HOURS OF MAXIMUIM SPEED LIMITS FOR THE OPERATION OF MOTOR VEHICLES ON ANY STREET WITHIN A DESIGNATED SCHOOL ZONE; PRESCRIBING A PENALTY FOR THE V.TOLATION OF THIS ORDINANCE; AZQD PROVIDING FOR THE PASSAGE. OF SUCH ORDINANCE AS AN EMERGENCY. WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Plainview, Texas, has determined i_t would be in the best interest of the public to amend Ordinance No. 80-2404 to designate Joliet Street between West 24th Street and West 26th Street in the City of .Plainview, Texas, as a school zone and provide maximum speed :Limits for the operation of motor vehicles on said streets. NOW, TT~EREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY 7CHE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLAINVIEW, TEXAS: Ordinance No. 80-2404 of the City of Plainview, Texas, shall be, and the same is hereby. amended as follows, to-wit: SECTION l: By adding to Section .L those portion or portions of streets in the City of Plainview, Texas, designated as school zones the following: Joliet Street between West 24th Street and West 26th Street. The necessity to designate a portion of Joliet Street in the city limits of the City of Plainview, Texas, as a school zone and to provide maximum limits for speed thereon for the 1983 school term creates an emergency and an imperative .public necessity for the immediate preservation of the public's peace, health, safety and general welfare, requiring that a:ny rule necessitating. more than one reading thereof be, and the same is hereby suspended;. this Ordinance shall be passed and take effect as an emergency measure and shall be in full force from and after its passage as provided by law, and it is so ordained. ', BE IT ORDAINID BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLAINVIEti~7, TEXAS: SECTION l: That the rates set out in tYii_s ordinance hereby amend Ordinance No. 80-2384 and establish maxinnun rates to be charged ', for the purpose of operating ambulances ~n the incorporated City limits of the City of Plainview, Texas; SECTION 2: The holder of a franchise granted for the purpose of operating ambulances in the City may charge not to exceed rates as follows; (a) Hospital Transfers per call_ - $50.00 (b) Emergency Calls per call - 65.00 The fact that there is a public necessity to provide adequate and normal services to the citizens of the City of Plainview and to provide for sufficient funds to furnish for the preservation of the public health, safety, and general. welfare, this ordinance sha11 be passed, take effect and be in full force from the date of its passage, being October 11, 1983.
