The Main Street Coordinating Board met on Monday, February 05, 2018 at noon in the Fair Theater
Members attending the meeting were Cynthia Gregory, Ranada Jack, Logan Pritchett, Jay Givens, Kelly
Alison, Tonya Keesee, Phyllis Wall, Melinda Brown and Tori Huddleston.
Melinda called the meeting to order at 12:04 P, M.
Introductions of new and old members, were maidle
Melinda, explained why Main Street matters to plainvew, She shared that 6 businesses were brought to
downtown adding 16 jobs. Overall there are 3010 people working downtown. Melinda also mentioned
thiinigs the City of Plainview was doing to push downtown forward: Hilton project, Planning and Zoning
working on, ordinances, Bond passed for downtown,, TIFF district.
Nominations — Logan nominated Ranada for president. Kelly seconded and the motion passed with no
opposing vote. Kelly nomiiniated Jay for vice president. Tonya seconded and the motion passed with no
opposing vote. Tonya nominated Kelly for secretary, Ranada seconded and the motion passed.
November minutes- Logan made a motion to approve the miin,utes as is. Ranada seconded and the
motion passed.
Main Street Initilaitive- Melinda explained! the 4-Point strategy for events. Kelly asked about the
Organization point and Phyllis said that Main Street would go through the Plainview Downtown
Association to apply for grants. Ranada asked if they wanted to follow the 4-Point approach or use it as
guidelines.Logan suggested that they worked better as a whole group using the 4-Point approach ais a
template for eve nits.
Hot Grants - The first Hot Grant was the J.D.W. Memorial July 281h, Logan explained that the memorial
was a rodeo event to raise scholarship money for Jess. Dale Wyatt's children,, Tonya said even though it
is for a scholarship for his children it is well attended. Kelly made a motion to decline the grant, Cynthia
seconded and the motion passed with no opposing vote.
Second was the High Ground of Texas Spring Meeting, Melinda explained that the meeting
would be held at the Civic Center and at the Fair Theatre with about 50 people coming from all over
West Texas. Ranada suggested getting coupons and give aways from businesses around town wound be
good for events like this to say welcome, and promote businesses. Logan made a motion to pass the
grant. Tonya seconded and the motion carried with, no opposing vote,
Upcoming Events- Melinda said volunteers would: be needed on February loth for the, carriage rides aind
Marty Haggard concert. She also went over future events including Mark Marley, the Main Street
Conferenice in, July in Amarillo, Texas Downtown Association Conference in November in Corpus Christi,
Kelly mentioned other events happening to go along with the Skateboard Competition in March.
Melinda mentioned the Texas Downtown, Association Round table in Plainview on April 6 th wrilll have
Andrea Glenn speaking on, online and brick and mortar sales. This event will bring about 40 people to
town.
Melinda asked the board to email her their top 3 things they wainted to see done in downtown this year.
She also gave them the task to go to 5 different businesses to get to know downtown better.
Phyllis brought up that Plainview Downtown Association will be having March, Madness. This will be a
Faceboo,k live series to introduce downtown bus,i:lniesses to the community.
Tonya motioned to adjourn, Cynthia seconded and all approved.
