MARCH 26, 2018
The Zoning Board of Adjustment held a special public hearing on Monday, March 26, 2018 at
6:00 p.m.The meeting took place in the Council Chambers of City Hall, 901 Broadway, Plainview,
Texas, with the following members present:

STAFF MEMBERS PRESENT: Nick Mogg, Code Enforcement, Mary Ann Saldana, Community
Service Secretary.
Mark Hardin opened the meeting at 6:00 pm, established a quorum and conducted the
consideration of the following items in the order presented. Nick Mogg read the staff reports, and
gave the recommendations for each item.
1. Approval of February 12, 2018 meeting minutes: Danny Murphree made a motion to
approve minutes of February 12, 2018 as presented. Evan Weiss seconded the motion.
Motion carried unanimously.
2. ZBA-18-04: Consider the request of a special exception of the minimum front set
back authorizing the construction of a Carport under the City of Plainview Zoning
Ordinance Section 37.2.2(H) Special Exceptions. The location described as Block
1 Lot 13 of the Northside Addition, Plainview, Texas, Hale County. also known as
2204 Kokomo Street.
The applicant is requesting a variance or special exception to construct a metal flat roof
20 ft. by 20 ft. carport (non-prefabricated) in the front-yard setback. Because the home is
built behind the current required set back line the proposed carport would encroach
approximately 20ft. into the required minimum front-yard setback of 25ft. If approved, the
front edge of the carport would be 27ft. from the back of curb. Nicole Ramirez made a
motion to approve the variance based on the request. Danny Murphree seconded and
the motion was carried unanimously.
4. ZBA-18-05: Consider the request of a special exception of the minimum front set
back authorizing the construction of a Carport under the City of Plainview Zoning
Ordinance Section 37.2.2(H) Special Exceptions. The location described as Block
8 Lot 2 of the Jr. High Addition, Plainview,Texas, Hale County, also known as 2209
wigth.

The applicant is requesting a variance or special exception in order to construct a metal
flat roof 15ft. by 24ft. carport (non-prefabricated) in the front-yard setback. Because the
home is currently built 3ft. behind the required set-back line the proposed carport would
encroach approximately 21ft. into the required minimum front-yard setback of 25ft. If
approved, the front edge of the carport would be 23ft. from the back of curb. Evan Weiss
made a motion to approve the variance based on the request. Nicole Ramirez seconded
and the motion was carried unanimously.
5. ZBA-18-06: Consider the request of a special exception of the minimum front set
back authorizing the construction of a Carport under the City of Plainview Zoning
Ordinance Section 37.2.2(H) Special Exceptions. The location described as Block
1 Lot 4 of the RB Jones Addition, Plainview, Texas, Hale County. also known as
1611 Nassau.
The applicant is requesting a variance or special exception in order to construct a metal
flat roof 21ft. by 22ft. carport (non-prefabricated) in the front-yard setback. The proposed
carport would encroach approximately 22ft. into the required minimum front-yard setback
of 25ft. If approved, the front edge of the carport would be 26ft. from the back of curb.
Danny Murphree made a motion to approve the variance based on the request. Evan
Weiss seconded and the motion was carried unanimously.
