HomeMy WebLinkAboutRSVP Minutes 06-12-2018THE RUNNINGWATER DRAW RSVP ADVISORY COUNCIL MEETING JUNE 12, 2018 MEMBERS PRESENT: STAFF PRESENT: Sally Phillips Gary Stennett Irma Shackelford Carol Schulz Bobbye Dennis Twyla Woodring Alice Rey Norvene Owen Emma Herring *The meeting was called to order by President Gary Stennett. Gary gave the prayer. *Volunteer of the Month is Raymond Naron. * Minutes of the May 8th meeting were approved. *Irma gave the financial report for April. *"My Dad Reads to Me" has made two trips to the prison and recorded 15 dads reading to 26 children with 62 books shipped. *The June Birthday Recortion will be on June 13th at McDonald's. *Irma reported that the 2" year of the 3 year federal grant will end on June 341' with reporting due by the end of July. The state grant is now open and will be due by July 6t'. *Operation Serve/city wide cleanup will be June 3o'h. RSVP will partner with the Plainview 4-H to clean up the hike and bike trail. *All community gardener plots have been filled and are doing well. *RSVP gave cards with a US flag pin for Memorial Day to the 75 retired veterans in nursing homes, assisted living and retirement homes. *RSVP has surveyed recipients of Meals on Wheels and senior centers' home delivery as part of a grant requirement. A total of 223 were delivered with 140 received back_ *Irma announced this year will mark the 45th anniversary for RSVP and asked for ideas on themes, designs, etc for the banquet. *RSVP plans to participate in the Red, White and Moo Parade on July 4th. *Irma plans to attend the National Senior Corps Conference in Washington, DC on July 16-18. *Lunch Bunch will meet on June 2e. *Gary reported on plans for the 10h Annual Golf Tournament to be on Saturday, Augustl lth. *The next meeting will be July 10, 2018. *Twyla reported a total of 345 volunteers with 226 serving 5414 hours. * Ballots for Volunteer of the Month were distributed. *Meeting was adjourned.
