MINUTES
January 11, 2018
The City of Plainview Park Advisory Board, as appointed by City Ordinance Number 95-3035, dated, as approved,
March 28, 1995, held an open meeting Thursday, January 11, 2018 at the Shelter House at Broadway Park, 101
S E 1st, Plainview, Texas, 79072. Minutes for this meeting are hereby submitted as follows:
FIRST ITEM ON THE AGENDA: Called to order by Phyllis Wall at 6:00 p.m.
SECOND ITEM ON THE AGENDA: Invocation given by Phyllis Wall.
THIRD ITEM ON THE AGENDA: Recognition of visitors: None.
Members present: Phyllis Wall, Ruby Riggins, Sandra Sims, Emily Parker, Homer Marquez and Joani Chapman.
Member Not present: Wendy Medina.
City Staff present: Ricky Summers, Park Superintendent, Tim Crosswhite, Director of Public Works.
FOURTH ITEM ON THE AGENDA: Approval of October 19, 2017 Minutes. Joani Chapman made a motion to
approve minutes as presented. Sandra Sims seconded the motion. Motion carried unanimously.
FIFTH ITEM ON THE AGENDA: Update on Travis Trussell Duck Pond.
Tim Crosswhite updated the board on the Travis Trussell Duck Pond. The bid is currently out and will close on
the 281h of January. Mr. Crosswhite will go before council for approval of the bid on February 13, 2018. On May
24, 2016, the City applied and was approved for a $250,000 grant from the Texas Park Wildlife. Plans were
drawn up and submitted to Texas Park Wildlife in December of 2017. Plans were approved. The Travis Trussell
Duck Pond is a $470,000 project. The Parks Department will be doing a lot of the in-house labor to keep the
budget down. Mr. Crosswhite presented the plans of the Duck Pond before the board.
SIXTH ITEM ON THE AGENDA: Update on signage at each park.
Tim Crosswhite updated the board on the cost and location of the signage at each park.
SEVENTH ITEM ON THE AGENDA: Update on park protects from October 19, 2017.
Tim Crosswhite updated the board on the playground equipment, cost of the powder coating of the playground
equipment, the replacement of the concrete at 16th Street Park, repaired and updated the gazebo. Discussed the
replacement of the roofs on the buildings at all of the parks.
EIGHTH ITEM ON THE AGENDA: Meeting adjourned 6:49 p.m.
