Second item on the agenda: BA Case # 1503 The request of Hilario and Anita Mendoza for a variance of four (4) feet of the required five (5) foot side setback as stated in Section 34 of the City of Ptalnview Zoning Ordinance to cons~uct an oversized 12'X41' Carport in a Single Family OK-2) Zoning District, and being Block 6, Lot 10 S8'-11, College Hill Addition, Plainview, Hale County, Texas the stone being 906 l~xington Street. Anita Mendoza is present to answer questions of the Board in regards to this case. John Castro showed the Board pictures of the property and a site plan of the proposed carport along with a map showing property owners within two hundred (200) feet of this property. There was one (1) response received from the neighborhood in favor of the request. John Castro said the carport would be a pre- fabricated one and even though the carport would be very close to the property line that drainage should not be a problem due to the way the carport would be curved at the top. Anita Mendoza said rainwater drains toward the driveway and not toward the neighbor's property. She also showed the Board how the neighbor's garage overlaps onto her property. She said the carport will be seven (7) feet tall and would fit as close, to the house as possible by fitting it underneath the eave of the house. She said they may have to dig a trench just deep enough to bury part of the base of the carport to enable it to fit under the eave of the house. Fred Willis made a motion to approve the request based on the positive response bom the neighborhood and this being the only logical place for a carport. John Bickol seconded Motion carded 4-0.
