Main Street Board
Meeting
Minutes
The Main Street Coordinating Board met on Monday, March 4, 2019 at noon in the Fair
Theater.
Members attending the meeting: Ranada.fack, John TLa-pen, Dora Sifuentes, Tonya Keesee, Cynthia,
Gregory, Andrea Glenn, Jay Givens, Phyllis Wall, Melinda Brown and'fori Huddleston,
Ron Appling was also in attendance to present his HOT Gran Application. Belinda Hinqjosa was present
to officiate- those that needed to take their Oath of Office,
Call to Order:
- Ranada called the meeting to order at 1104 P.M.
11OT Grant
- Ron Appling presented his Hur Grant application for the 2019 Hale on Wheels bike race
scheduled for September 2l11, Ron reported that entry number have increased each year with
riders from Missouri, Colorado, New Mexico and Oklahoma. Ron stated that fie believes the
funds provided by the HOTGrant each year has helped the number of entries increase each year.
- Andrea made a motion to grant Ron Appling $750 for the Hale of] Wheels bike race. John
seconded. Motion passed.
Oaths of Office
- Ranada, John, Dora and Jay all took their Oath of Office, Belinda Hincjosa officiated.
Minutes
- Andrea made a motion to accept the minutes presented as is, Dora Seconded, Motion passed.
Relationship Project
Ranada reported on the new layout of the Relationship Protect..
`"I'lie project has been divided into two sections. The first half will be frorn March — June and will
begin with board members looking all properties on Broadway and Asti Streets starting at 4111 and
ending at 7"', June will begin the 2"' half of the project. The Board will begin looking at
properties on Broadway and Ash Streets starting at 7`1 and ending at I I"'
Board members were assigned properties in first section and are encouraged to mail letters
provided by Main Street Staff, call, and meet with the business and property owners.
Jay asked about getting into, on the differences, between the'FIRZ District and the Main Street
Facade Grant, Melinda said that, she will work up, a sheet for them to have when talking to the
property/brashness owners, Melinda said that if an owner asks a. question that a board member
can't answer to send them to either Melinda or Tod.
Each month board members will turn in reports and updates on the property/business owners they
have contacted.
Committees
- Promotion: Uncoillina Events
o Phyllis reported on 2111 Saturday. It is scheduled for March 9111 and will have a rummage
sale. There is also a chance to win four tickets to see Mercy Me and David Crowder in
New Mexico, Competition rules are on tile website. Phyllis also encouraged the board to
send people to the 2"' Saturday website and to share the event on Facebook. April's 2"'
Saturday will have Walk A Mile in Her Shoes and spring related activities,
o Tori reported oil the Fair Theatre's Spring Break Movie Days. March 12"' — 14"'. Movies
being shown are Incredibles 2, Sgt. Stubby, and Ralph Breaks the Internet. Show times
are 2:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. Tori also asked for volunteers to help. Cynthia, Tonya and
Dora all said they would like to help out.
o Melinda reported on a car show scheduled for March 2311 at the courthouse. It is
organized Brandon Chavez.

o Ranada reported on the new Fagade Grant Point System. This will help keep the
applications organized and will make sure that they are filled out correctly. Two
applications have been turned in so far.
- Economic Restructurin

Community Survey
- Melinda reported that WBU is scheduled to help on their Day of Service scheduled for March
22°"°. Dr, Peg ram also has a class that will help for their service project later in April. For the
Day of Service and the class Project, students will help distribute information arid conduct
surveys at the entrances of Walmart, United and Amigos grocery stores. Melinda reported that the
survey is ready to go live on March 18"'.
- Jay asked fora r link to be sent to hirn. He will forward it to the Ministerial Alliance — Some
pastors have agreed to share the link to their congregation.
- Melinda said flyers and paper copies of the survey will be printed and available for businesses.
The flyers will send people to the City of Plainview website first. There will be a link to the
survey on the inain page.
Other Businesses
- Tonya reported that the Governor's Small Business Workshop is scheduled for April I I' from
8:00 a.m. — 12:0O pni. (noon) at the Country Club. Hi -Plains and the Charnber of Commerce are
co -hosting the workshop.
