HomeMy WebLinkAbout93 0525 min0044 MINUTES CITY COUNCIL MEETING May 25, i993 The Plalnview City Council held a regular meeting at 7: 30 p.m., Tuesday, May 25, 1993, in the Council Chambers of the PlalnView City Hall at 901 Broadway. The Council will met in Pre-Session at 7:00 p.m. Mayor E. V. Ridlehuber presided. Counci]members present were: Alton Jackson - Precinct 1, Mary Virginia Kirchhoff - Precinct 2, Don Dickson - Precinct 3, Medlin Carpenter - Precinct 4, Dwaln Dodson - Precinct 6, and Irene Favila - Precinct 7. Absent was Barbara Dorman- Precinct 5. Staff present: James P. Jeffers - City Manager, Roy L. Osborne - Director of Public Safety, Wally Hatch - City Attorney, Terry Powers - Director of Human Resources, Muff London - Director for Community Development, Norman Huggins - Director of Finance, and Karen McBeth - City Secretary. Media present: Richard Orr - Plainview Daily Herald, Ridley Gibson - Plainview Cable TV. Guests present: Ernesto Saldana - Parks Department, and Wayne Wyatt - High Plains Underground Water Conservation District Number One. OPEN MEETING 1. Invocation - Dwaln Dodson 2. Recognitions/Oath cfi Office - Mayor Ridlehuber called on Carl Holland - Superintendent of Support Services who presented a Certificate of Appreciation to Ernesto Saldana upon his retirement from the Parks Department. Mr. Saldana has worked for the City of Plainview for twenty nine years. 3. Mayor Pro Tern - Mayor E. V. Ridlehuber administered the Oath of Office to Councilmember Alton Jackson as Mayor Pro-Tern for the coming year. Councilmember Jackson stated he was proud to be the Mayor Pro-Tern and he thanked everyone for their support. 4. High Plains Underground Wate~ Conse~wation District - Wayne Wyatt, General Manager of High Plains Underground Water Conservation DistriCt, provided a slide presenttion depicting the activities, programs and goals of the district and the importance of conserving the underground water to the survival of this area. Mayor Ridlehuber thanked Mr. Wyatt for his informative program and stated that the City Council is considering the merits of Plalnview becoming a member of this water conservation district. 5. Adjournment - Counci]member Medlin Carpenter moved the meeting adjourn; Dwain Dodson seconded the motion; the motion carried unemimously among the six counci]members present.
