Main Street Coordinating Board
Date: 10.05.2020
1. Call to Order: Ranada Jack
Time: 12:03
Members present were Tonya Keesee, Jordan Hrbacek, Carol Terrell, Ranada Jack, John Turpen, Phyllis
Wall, & Diane Martinez. Melinda Brown and Tori Huddleston representing Main Street
2. Board Minutes: September
Motion: Tonya Keesee made a motion to approve the 09.08.2020 minutes
John Turpen voiced the 2nd
Vote: approved 7-0
3. Staff Updates
a. Main Street/PDA merge
Melinda Brown shared a thank you to those who helped with the first Saturday clean-up.
She shared the Downtown Streetscape will begin on October 19t" along the East side of
Broadway.
Ms. Brown will be meeting with Trinity Hughes, the Downtown Streetscape contracting
company, on October 7t".
October 13t" through the 30t" is early voting for the City election. Voting will take place at
the Justice Center for the Mayoral and City Council races, not at the Courthouse.
Melinda Brown shared that the TIRZ (Tax Increment Reinvestment Zone) board
selection was to go before Council soon. Carol Terrell has been recommended as the
Main Street Board representative.
The Texas Downtown Association conference would be attended virtually by Melinda
Brown and Tori Huddleston.
4. Committees
a. Imaging & Branding/Tonya Keesee
Tonya Keesee reported that the committee initially met in August and came away with great
ideas and questions. They look to moving forward with imaging and branding as the Streetscape
begins.
Diane Martinez shared the clean-up Saturday was "eye-opening" and a great success. She
announced the next clean-up day would be Saturday, November 7'", at 9 A.M. at the Fair
Theater.
b. Dining & Entertainment/Carol Terrell
Carol Terrell shared that the committee has three commitments to serve from Martin Duckett,
Homer Marquez, and Mack Lees. Their first event will be a caroling partnership with the 12 Days
of Christmas event, Soup, Santa & Sopapillas.
5. Promotion & upcoming events
a. 2nd Saturday/Open House
Phyllis Wall, representing the Plainview Downtown Association, shared the October and
November 2nd Saturday events & sponsors. 2nd Saturday in November is the Lighted Window
Contest and open house celebration for downtown, leading into the Christmas shopping
season.
b. 12 Days of Christmas
Tori Huddleston presented the 12 Days of Christmas events from a 12 Days planning session. She
has visited with the Health Department to get Covid/19 planning and approval for each event.
