HomeMy WebLinkAbout92 0521 min207 MINUTES May 21, 1992 The City Council of the City of Pla, nview, Texas, met in a Work Session on Thursday, May 21, 1992, at 11:30 a.m. at the Pla, nview Municipal Country Club. Mayor E.V. Ridiehuber presided. Councilmembers present were: Alton Jackson - Precinct 1; Mary Virginia Kirchhoff - Precinct 2; Don Dickson - Precinct 3; Barbara Dorman - Precinct 5; Dwain Dodson - Precinct 6; and Irene Fay,la Precinct 7. Absent was Councilmember Medlin Carpenter - Precinct 4. Staff Present: James P. Jeffers - City Manager; ,ally Hatch - City Attorney; Terry Powers - Director of Human Resources; William R. Hogge - Director of Public Works; Diane Groh - Director for Community Services; Roy L. Osborne Director of Public Safety; Barbara Sullivan - Municipal Court Judge; Muff London - Main Street Coordinator; and Karen McBeth, City Secretary. Guests Present: Jim Harem of Hamm Engineers of Dallas, Texas; Rich Oller of Oiler Engineering of Lubbock, Texas; and Iresema Velasquez of Southwestern Bell Telephone. Media Present: Richard Orr - Pla,nview Daily Herald. Mayor Ridlehuber called the meeting to order. The City Council reviewed the following agenda for the upcoming meeting of May 26, 1992. A Resolution of the City Council of the City of Plainview, Texas, approving issuance of bonds by the Plainview Higher Educational Facilities Corporation. (Old business tabled from City Council meeting of May '12, 1992). f) Consideration of Award of Bids: 1) Airpaeks - Ten Scott 2.2 (803875) SCBAS with AV 200 face masks. 2) Sanitation Packer Body - A 35 cu. yd. Refuse Packer Body. 3) Long Distance Telephone Service Adjou~mnent, 10A. Bids: A landfill groundwtaer monitoring well system (9 wells) and a landfill gas monitoring system (3 wells) in Hale County, Texas, for the City of. Plainv/ew, Texas. The Council turned to the agenda for today. City Manager Repox-ts: Mr. Jeffers reported on the following subjects: 16th Street l~-oject - The City is proceeding with condemnation procedures and there will be more to report after the required time for legal action has been taken. Beautification - Mr. Jeffers reported that Muff London, Barbara Dorman and he had met with Mel Pope of the Texas Highway Department regarding the mowing and painting of the overpasses on 1-27. Mr. Pope assured them that in September of 1993, he will have available $30,000 to spend on a beautification program for these overpasses.
