HomeMy WebLinkAboutRSVP 09-08-2020 minutesTHE RUNNINGWATER DRAW RSVP ADVISORY COUNCIL MEETING September 8, 2020 MEMBERS PRESENT: Norvene Owen Dorothy Russell STAFF PRESENT: Gail Thrasher Andrea Unwin Irma Shackelford Alice Rey Tara Walker Jackie Cornett Carol Schulz Rodney Watson Emma Herring Sally Phillips *In the absence of the President and the Vice President, the meeting was called to order by Secretary Carol Schulz. Rodney gave the prayer. * Minutes of the June meeting were approved as presented. * Irma gave the financial reports for May, June and July. *Jackie Cornett was introduced as the new RSVP Assistant. * "My Dad Reads to Me" has not made any trips to the prison. *Irma reported on the grants. The required progress reports were submitted on time. The new State Grant Contract has been signed by the City Manager. All correspondence and reporting will go directly to the State. *Irma has attended several on-line meetings with state and national Senior Corps. *RSVP was able to pack 325 "Volunteer Kits" for distribution to area volunteers. The kits include hand sanitizer, masks and gloves. Extra cloth masks were donated to APS, Christian Manor, Hospital Auxiliary, Crisis Center and Hale Center Senior Citizens. *Irma announced that RSVP will be renamed "AmeriCorps Seniors" starting April 1, 2021. *Volunteer Station Surveys have been mailed out. *It was decided to cancel all fall and winter projects due to continued COVID-19. *Discussed moving meetings to six times a year instead of the current eleven. Decided to stay with eleven. *The volunteer report showed a total of 365 volunteers in May with 91 serving 1253 hours. In June there were 362 total with 118 volunteers serving 1855 hours. In July there was a total of 361 volunteers with 125 serving 1824 hours. Three new volunteers were signed up in August. *Next meeting will be October 13, 2020. *Meeting was adjourned.
