4t~ Street, Plainview, Texas. The agenda for this meeting was posted in City Hall at
11:15 a.m. on May 1, 2006. Mayor John C. Anderson presided. Councilmembers
pres~ent were: Mary Jane Shanes-District 2, Belinda Pena-District 3, John N. Bertsch-
Distdct 4, Wendell Dunlap-District 6 and Roland Nash-District 7. Councilmembers
KeMn Tipton-District 1 and Ron TruSler-District 5 were absent.
Staff members present were: Greg Ingham-City Manager, John Castro-Director of
Cgmmunity Services, Leslie Pearce-City Attorney, John Berry-Director of Public Works,
?Waill Mull-Police Chief, Brice Clements-Engineer, Dale Simpson-Director of Civil Service,

~e Council and staff reviewed the agenda for the City Council meeting of May 9, 2006.
illiam Mull, Police Chief presented for consideration and to take necessary action
~larding Grant application from the Lubbock Emergency Communication District
11) to convert the Department generator from a manual transfer switch to an
~tomatic transfer switch. He stated this is a 90/10 grant With the grant amount being
;300 and the City's 10% being $700. He stated he felt there was a fair chance of
,tting the grant. He needs a letter from the CounCil stating the City will guarantee its
,rtion of the grant.
~ptain Dennis Harkins stated if the power goes out, someone has to manually go
d(,wn and start the generator. This auto transfer switch would automatically turn the
pqwer back on and improve 911 service. The device also tests itself once a week which
wilh the current device it is tested manually once a rnonth.
C~unCilmember DUnlap stated this would be a great addition.
Councilmember Shanes moved to authorize letter assuring funds to apply for grant for
electric transfer switch. The motion was duly seconded by Councilmember Dunlap.
Mayor Anderson, Counci!member Shanes, Pena Dunlap and Nash voted "for" the
mot on: Councilmember Bertsch voted '!against" the motion. The motion carried.
Tt ~er'e being no further business, Mayor Anderson adjourned the meeting at 11:55 a.m.
