HomeMy WebLinkAbout06.07.2021 Board MinutesMINUTES Main Street Coordinating Board Date: 06-07-2021 - 1 1:30 a.m. 1, Call to Order: Ranada .lack, President Time: 1 1:37 AM Board Members Present: Tonya Keesee, John Turpen, Ranada Jack, Carol Terrell, Janice Payne, Jorden Hrbacek, Diane Martinez, and Phyllis Wall. 2, May Board Min(..)fes: Tonya Keesee made a motion to approve the May Board minutes. The 2nd: was voiced by Jordan Hrbacek. The motion passed with a 7-0 vote. 1 Staff Updates Melinda Brown, Main Street manager, presented updates on downtown. The construction on the streetscape is on schedule, with September 2021 as the targeted finish date. The east side of Broadway, beginning at 6t" Street, has streetscape sidewalk demo set to begin in about a month. The Historic Standards that the Main street Board voted on should be ready to go into effect by the end of 2021. The Plainview Main Street has been designated as an accredited Main StreetTM program for meeting rigorous performance standards. Philip Mize, Chief Building Official for the City of Plainview, and Melinda Brown, Main Street Manager, shared building relationships through code enforcement, steps, and procedures. 4. Von Profit/ i:::conornic Development - John R.arper)/Phyllis Wall a. By -Laws - Discuss John Turpen went through each by-law entry, and the board discussed suggested changes. The board will look at these again at the August meeting. b. Sponsorship Levels - Discuss John Turpen presented the sponsorship level recommendation from his committee, and the board discussed each level. These will be discussed in more depth at the August board meeting. 5. Marketing/Organization - Fonya Kc,Mc,Msc,e/Diane Martinez a. New Logo - Discuss and Approve Melinda presented the report and recommendation for the new branding for Downtown Plainview that came through the partnership of Main Street and the Plainview Downtown Association. Janice Payne made a motion to approve the branding. The 2nd: was voiced by Carol Terrell. The motion passed with an 8-0 vote. 6. Promotions & E.::.:ver)fs _ Ranada .lack/Carol Ferrell a. 2nd Saturday Tori Huddleston, Special Projects Coordinator, shared that the Broadway Brew will offer Bingo from 10-1 1, Marley Meats will be at Millennium Park, and the Plainview Area United Way will have a food fund-raiser and awareness event outside of the Broadway Brew for the June 12 2nd Saturday. b. Holiday Celebrations Tori Huddlestion recommended that the board use the July board meeting to plan out the holiday events for downtown that begin on the 2nd Saturday of November and go through Christmas week. 7. Bea(..)fification, E.::.:d(..)cation, Awareness ....- Janice Payne/John F(..)rper) a. Mural Grant - Review and Approve Diane Martinez shared her request for a grant to update her building, Tender Hands, historical painted mural signage. Phyllis Wall made a motion to approve the process pending the final work rendering and expenses submission. The 2nd: was voiced by John Turpen. The motion passed with an 8-0 vote. b. Operation Serve - Discuss and Approve Tori Huddleston presented the board with an opportunity to participate in the community Operation Serve event on June 26. Jordan Hrbacek made a motion for the board to participate, and Ranada Jack, board chair, and Tori Huddleston will investigate projects and send out information to the board. The 2nd: was voiced by Diane Martinez. The motion passed with an 8-0 vote. c. Downtown Cleanup - Diane Martinez Diane Martinez reported that Philip Mize, in his earlier presentation, had answered her questions. & CVie Updates a. Hot Grant - Hale on Wheels - Discuss and Approve Melinda presented the CVB Hot Grant for Ron Appling, organizer of the Hale On Wheels to be held on September 18, 2021 Janice Payne made a motion to approve the grant.
