Main Street Coordinating Board

1, Call to Order: Ranada .lack, President
Time: 1 1:39 AM
Board Members Present: Tonya Keesee, John Turpen, Ranada Jack, Carol Terrell, Jay
Givens, Janice Payne, Jorden Hrbacek, Diane Martinez, and Phyllis Wall.
2.J(..)r)e Board Min(..)fes:
Tonya Keesee made a motion to approve the June Board minutes.
The 2nd: was voiced by Carol Terrell.
The motion passed with an 8-0 vote.
1 Staff Updates
Melinda Brown, Main Street Manager, shared the following updates:
The streetscape project has a new crew, and they are working again. The
project is on schedule to be completed by mid -September.
The Main street annual report will be presented to the City Council on Tuesday,
July 13, 2021, at 7 PM at the Plainview Civic Center. The Main Street Board is
encouraged to attend.
The new by-laws, sponsorship levels, and design guidelines, including
contributing and non-contributing building determinations, will be reviewed by
legal and brought to the board in August.
4. Holiday Celebrations _ Disc(..)ss & Approve
a) Theme
Jordan Hrbacek made a motion to approve Winter Wonderland as the 2021 theme.
The 2nd: was voiced by Tonya Keesee.
The motion passed with a 9-0 vote.
Carol Terrell made a motion that marketing for the Christmas season will always begin
with Plainview Downtown branding followed by the word `PRESENTS," then the window
decorating and parade theme.
The 2nd: was voiced by Diane Martinez.
The motion passed with a 9-0 vote.

`Sweetstakes' winner reveal
Janice Payne made a motion to approve continuing with the lighted window contest.
The 2nd: was voiced by Tonya Keesee.
The motion passed with a 9-0 vote.
The board discussed the possibility of having a live Christmas tree lot. President,
Ranada Jack, asked each member to research tree farm resources.
John Turpen made a motion to use 100 Chamber Coins for the "Sweetstakes" 1,000.00
prize monies.
The 2nd: was voiced by Carol Terrell.
The motion passed with a 9-0 vote.
c) Decor
The Main Street board discussed downtown holiday decor after learning that the new
streetscape lights will not hold the current snowflakes decor.
The board suggested going before the Hale County Commissioners to ask about
adding lights to the courthouse area and if the three Christmas trees can go on the
courthouse lawn again this year.
