Main Street Coordinating Board

Board Members Present: Jay Givens, Ranada Jack, Diane Martinez, Carol Terrell, Tonya
Keesee and John Turpen
City of Plainview Main Street representatives: Melinda Brown and Tori Huddleston
2. November Board Min(..)fes
Carol Terrell made a motion to approve the November Board minutes as printed.
The 2nd: was voiced by Diane Martinez. The motion passed with a 6-0 vote.
1 Staff Updates
➢ Melinda Brown gave an updatge on the ongoing downtown streetscape construction
- Crews are finishing up the west side of the 600 block and are beginning to plant
trees.
➢ The By -Law committee met and made some adjustments. This draft is now being
reviewed by legal.
➢ Melinda Brown suggested moving the January Board Meeting from January 3rd to
January 101h due to the holiday. She check with the board through email once
everyone has had a chance to check their calendars. Starting in January the board
will begin meeting at the new City Hall.
➢ Melinda Brown will schedule individual meetings with each board member to review
each members goals for the board and downtown.
4, Ann(..)al Main Street Accreditation Report
Tori Huddleston reported that the Annual Main Street Accreditation Report required
the board's input. The annual report is a requirement for all main street cities and determins
which programs will receive National Accredidation. Tori will email the board their portion to
complete by the January 2022 meeting.

Diane Martinez had no report for the Adopt -a -Block program. She and a volunteer
worked Friday to clean up after the Christmas Parade on Thursday night.
6. Von Profit/ i:::::cc)nc)rnic Development -John R..arpen / Pyllis Wall
John gave an update on the last By -Law meeting and are waiting for legal to finish
reviewing the most recent draft.

Holiday Celebrations
i. Event details/ volunteer sign-ups
The Chamber's Christmas Parade was very successful with over 2,000
people in attendance. Everyone was pleased with how much the entire
community was involved in the parade. The Christmas tree lot with
Robert's Tree House was also successful for it's first year - there are plans
for improving it next year. Tori also reported on the four final events of the
season.
b. 2nd Saturday
Tori Huddleston reported that The Rusty Rose is the Business Sponsor for
December's 2nd Saturday. They will be hosting a backyard block party in the
parking lot behind their business. Multiple businesses on the 700 block of
Broadway will also be present.
Burnin' Tree BBQ will set up around the courthouse to provide another food
option to downtown shopers.
Santa & The Ponies will be stationed at Millennium park for families to visit and
get their picture taken with Santa.
8. Marketing/ Organization - Fonya Kc;esc;e / Jordan Hrlbacek / .day Givens
a. Open House
Tonya Keesee reported that she and her committee are working on getting
banners ordered for the open hose event. They are also working on other details
like having food trucks and a Sip & Stroll.
