HomeMy WebLinkAbout86 0922 minCITY COUNCIL SPECIAL SESSION September 22, 1986 PLAINVIEW CHAMBER OF COMMERCE OFFICE 2:00 p.m. MINUTES The Plainview City Council, met in special session, with the Hale County Commissioner's Court, on Monday, September 22, 1986, at 2:00 p.m. in the Plainview Chamber of Commerce meeting room. Present were Mayor E.V. Ridlehuber and Councilmembers: Terry Clements, Barbara Dorman, Don Dickson~ Tom Aday and Bobby James. Councilmembers Alton Jackson and Junior Brown were absent. Also present were City Manager Jim Jeffers. Representing the County were County Judge Bill Hollars and County Commissioner's Henry Rieff, Homer Robertson, Nina Morris and James Belk. Newsmedia present were Plainview Daily Herald Representative, Richard Orr and KVOP-reporter Cathy Donahue. Numerous visitors were present at the meeting. After a lengthy discussion Councilman Aday moved that the County pay for two fire fighters salaries and fringe benefits per year as well as execute the existing Fire Contract with the payment for two fire fighters guaranteeing a response of one truck with two personnel to any fire in the County and an additional charge of $2,271.00 would be added if additional manpower and equipment were required. Motion was duly seconded by Councilwoman Dorman and carried by the following vote: affirmative Aday, Dickson and Dorman: Nay Clements and James. Commissioner Belk moved that the County accept the City's proposal less payment of fringe benefits. Nina Morris seconded the motion and it carried by the following vote: affirmative James Belk, Nina Morris, Homer Robertson and nay Henry Rieff. Councilman Aday moved that the City execute a three year contract with the County which would call for the County paying for two fire fighters salary's and fringe benefits on annual basis with first year cost not to exceed $30,000.00. The payment for two salaried positions would require the City to respond to any fire in the County when requested to do so. In addition the City would charge $2,271.00 for the response of more than one fire fighting unit and two personnel. Motion was duly seconded by Councilwoman Dorman and carried by a unanimous vote. Commisioner Morris moved that the City's proposal be accepted. Commissioner Belk duly seconded the motion. Commissioner's Belk and Morris voted in favor of the motion with Commissioner's Robertson and Rieff voting against the motion. Judge Hollars voted affirmative thus breaking the tie and the motion carried. There being no further business the meeting was adjourned by Mayor Ridlehuber and Judge Hollars at 5:30 p.m. PASSED AND APPROVED this 14th day of October, 1986. E.V.
