Home My WebLink About80 0513 minPLAINVIEW CITY COUNCIL REGULAR MEETING May IS, 1980 MINUTES Council Chambers City Hall O0 032 The City Council of the City of Plainview met in regular session at 7:30 P.M. in the City Council Chamber of the City Hall with Mayor Bob Wayland presiding and the following Councilmen present: Carl Tillerson-Place One, Andy TaylOr-Place Two, Lloyd Woods-Place Three, Tom Almon-Place Four, and Tom Aday- Place Five. Also present were the following City Staff: John Hatchel-City Manager, Tom Hamilton-City Attorney, Bill Hogge-City Engineer, Harold Gladman-Director of Planning, Alan STewart-Director of Police Services, Joe Ferguson-Director of Fire Services, Johnnie Ballew-Director of Public Safety, Bob Richards-Building Inspection Randy Holly-Administrative Secretary. , Also present were the following visitors: Jack Morris, Ron McCandless, Nick Long, Charles Bechtold, Consuelo Soliz, Jim & Bonnie Stanford, Ed Self, Lee Browning, Jim Daivs, Chuck Martin, Ron Little, Tony Luna, James Thomas, Buddy Baker, Frances West, Patricia Henderson, Tom Hall, Hilda Butler, Marla Butlar, Robin Butlar, Oscar Butlar, Austin B. Meriwether, Mrs. Don Wason, Don R. It was moved by Alderman Woods, seconded by Alderman Aday to accept Resolution No. R80-256 appointing members to various Boards, Commissions, and Committees, Motion carried unanimously. It was moved by Alderman Almon seconded by Alderman Aday to approve Resolution No. R_8O-2S__Scanvassing the returns and declaring the results of the Run-off election held in the City of Plainview on May 13, 1980. Motion carried unanimously. It was moved by Alderman Almon seconded by Alderman Woods to decline request of the Optimist Baseball Program for $'1,5000 for the construction of a new pressbox at J.C. Baseball Park. Motion carried unanimously. It was moved by Alderman Aday seconded Alderman Tillerson to approve Resolution No. R80-257 protesting the issuance of a private club license to the businesslocated at 3418 Olton Road. Motion carried unanimously. It was moved by Alderman Woods, seconded by Alderman Almon to approve Resolution No. R80-258 authorizing the Mayor to sign a Minute Order from the State Department of Highways and Public Transportation authorizing improvements on 34th Street extension from Quincy st. at I=27 to Loop 445. Motion carried unanimously. It was moved by Alderman Almon seconded Woods to approve Resolution No. R80-259 accepting the lowest and best bid and awarding a contract for the purchase of playground equipment in John D. Stoneham and E ~ E Givens Parks, PLAINVIEW CITY COUNCIL REGULAR MEETING May 13, 1980 T.O0 033 MINUTES Motion carried unanimously. It was moved by Alderman by Almon seconded by Alderman Woods to approve Resolution R80-260 accepting the lowest and best bid and awarding a contract for Park Site Earthwork in E & E Givens Park. Motion carried unanimously. It was-moved by Alderman Woods, seconded by Alderman Almon to approve Resolution No. R80-261 accepting the lowest and best bid and awarding a contract for furnishing the Annual Supply of Liquid Asphalt. Motion carried unanimously. It was moved by Alderman Almon seconded by Alderman Tillerson to approve Resolution No. R80-262 accepting the lowest and best bid and awarding a contract for furnishing the Annual Supply of Seal Coat Gravel. Motion carried unanimously. It was moved by Alderman Aday seconded by Alderman Tillerson to approve Resolution No. R80-263 authorizing payment to High Plains Pavers, Inc., for work performed in conjunction with the 1977 and 1979 Pa~ing Projects. Motion carried unanimously. It was moved by Alderman Tillerson seconded by Alderman Almon to approve Resolution No. R80-264 accepting work performed; authorizing payment to High Plains Pavers, Inc., and the billing of Lon Cartwright for his expenses incurred during the completion of construction of 24t1 Street from Garland Street to 1/2 block west of Kermit Drive.
