CITY COUNCIL CHAMBERS City Hall Plainview, Texas MINUTES 00 038 The City Council of the City of Plainview met in regular session at 7:30 P.M. in the City Council Chamber 6f the City Hall with Mayor Bob Wayland presiding and the following Councilmen present: Carl Tillerson-Place One, Andy Taylor-Place Two, Tom Almon-PlaCe~'Fon~, and TomAday-Place Five. Also present were the following City Staff: John Hatchel-City Manager, Bill Hogge-City Engineer, Alan Stewart-Director of Police Services, Joe Ferguson-Director of Fire Services, Johnnie Ballew-Director of Public Safety, Randy Holly- Administrative Assistant, Buddy Dodson-City Clerk, and Sheryl Owen-Administrative Secretary. Also present were the following visitors: Duane Young, Ron Little, Roy Kiser, Charles Bechtold, Glenn Lester, Jim Davis, Nick Long, Neil Dunavant, Jason Dunavant, Buddy Baker, Bob Cpckrum, and Jerry Azua. Invocation was! given Mayor Bob Wayland. It was moved by Alderman Almon, seconded by Alderman Tillerson to approve the minutes of the Regular City Council Meeting held May 27, 1980 and the City Council Work Session held June 5, 1980. Motion carried unanimously. It was moved by Alderman Tillerson seconded by Alderman Taylor to approve Resolution No; R80-275appointing members to various Authorities, Boards, Commissions and Committees. Motion carried unanimously. It was moved by Alderman Taylor seconded by Alderman Almon to approve Resolution No. R80-276 authorizing the Mayor to sign an Agreement for Mutual Aid in Fire Protection between Plainview and nearby cities. Motion carried unanimously. It was moved by Alderman Aday seconded by Alderman Almon to approve Resolution No. R80-282 authorizing theMayor to sign as agreement with Gibson's pertaining prohibiting parking from 9:30 A.M. to 8:00 A.M. in Gibson's parking lot. Motion carried Places 1;'~,'4,& 5 Aye and Place 2, Nay. It was moved by Alderman Almon seconded by AldermanTillerson to approve Resolution No. R80-27.7 accepting the lowest and best bid and awarding a construction contract for a Picnic Shelter and Restrooms in E & E Givens Park. Motion carried unanimously. It was moved by Alderman Aday seconded by Alderman Almon to approve Resolution No. R80-278 declaring the intent to acquire a parcel in conjunction with the 1978/80 Community Development Storm Drainage Project. Motion carried un~mimousty. It was moved by Alderman Aday seconded by Alderman Tillerson to approve Resolution No. R80-270 authorizing the City Manager to negotiate for the acquisition of parcels abutting Southwest 3rd and Columbia Streets. Motion carried unanimously. PLAINVIEW CITY COUNCIL REGULAR MEETING June 10, 1980 Pag zwD0 03'9 It was moved by Alderman Almon seconded by Alderman Tillerson to approve Resolution No. R80-280 accepting the lowest and best bid and awarding a construction contract for an inverted siphon in conjunction with the 1978/80 Community Development Storm Drainage Project. Motion carried unanimously. It wasmoved by Alderman Tillerson seconded by Alderman Taylor-to approve Resolution No. R80-281'authorizing the purchase of lights for the Fire Training Field and transfer of funds to cover the cost. Motion carried unanimously. Received for filing Pioneer's Natural Gas Company's cost of gas on its West Texas System for the month of April, 1980. Received copies of Minutes from City /County Health, April 24, 1980 meeting, and Parks, Open Space and Recreation Advisory Commiteee, May 1, 1980 meeting. It was. moved by Alderman Aday seconded by Alderman Almon to approve the Budget Expenditures for the Month. It-was moved by Alderman Aday seconded by Alderman Almon to adjourn the meeting.
